I picked up this Airtronics CS2P today and wondering if anyone here has had some experience with them before? This one is missing the battery tray and I'm wondering if it's worth trying to get it up and running or not?

I just got an xl 2p and it's great. Lots of adjustabillity! That one appears to have many more. The battery tray is still available I think. Should also be able to use the futaba tray from a magnum radio.

Thanks for that info, I think you're right about the Futaba pack fitting this radio. I might try to get it up and running and see how it works out.

I know the new stuff is better , but I can't help but like this old stuff , nice radio .

I loved the looks of this radio from the very start.

When I first got my RC10T2, i bought the XL2p radio (now i have 2) but i would love the FM version, the CS2P. Adjustments were great, you had the "drop wheel" feel w/o the drop. I think mine still work. We are having a 2day race coming up next month and There is a contest for the best Vintage.

I might have to deck out one (or a couple) of my rides and break out my old radios again.

Great radios i think they can be setup left or right handed.

that was a top notch radio from BITD... it has a few national and international titles under the belt! One of my favourites

do not use a futaba battery holder they have the poles reversed
I still have 2 and occasionally use them, in many ways better than the latest thing

The pro drivers use theese in the gloory -80ees. I have 3 of them.

Is the XL2P the same thing as the Sanwa Machine-A? The latter is an AM radio that uses the same housing as this one, with channel reverse on both channels, trims, throttle high and low EPA, reverse adjustment, steering dual rate and a button that I guess serves to temporarily disable the dual rate. It has a plastic hatch fixed in place of the module.

Fantastic radios the cs2p - top of the range from 25yrs ago!!! Stuff of legend, they have everything that's needed, endpoint, expos, great ergonomy (drop down wheel). If the signal on yours is clean, it should be able to keep up with anything modern. A radio is only as good as the guy holding it Race it!
