I want to repaint a gold pan. For all of you experienced in this, how would you recommend removing the old paint and what kind/brand of new paint should I use? I know most gold pans vary slightly in color, but is it just basic gold that would be close to a stock color for the gold pans?

THanks in advance!!!!

The gold isn't paint, it's anodizing.

Is there a way to repair/replace/remove it?

Thanks for the Info!! Just apply and scrub to remove? Also, what are people using to replace the gold?

Yup there's a couple of ways to strip anodizing. Easy Off oven cleaner is the most often recommended but I've recently read that soaking in Draino works too. If you do the Easy Off get the heavy duty stuff in the yellow can, and go for the name brand stuff....from my experience it works much quicker than the store brands.

Google can lead you to a few tutorials on stripping anodizing.

Thanks for the info! Any ideas on how to replace the gold color?

You can paint it after you strip it or get it professionally anodized or powder coated.

The oven cleaner worked pretty good. The person that owned the car before me painted over the original anodized body... so it was a mess cleaning it. almost done :) once again, thanks for the pointers...

little late to the party, but be careful with how long you leave the oven cleaner on there...

from this:

to this (EEEEK!)

to this

couple weeks and about $40 later (powdercoat)

after getting the right parts together and full electronics

then, like an idiot...I sold it :(
