Hey everyone - here is the gold tub I picked up off eBay a months ago, I am slowly going through this cleaning and searching for whiter or better parts. The goal of this is to get it to be as original as possible as it came from associated. I have a lot of spare parts but even looking through the manual not sure on the little things. So far all i can really tell is maybe the rear shock tower, and the steering servo linkage...Nt sure what happened on the chassis so I need to find one of those in better shape as well.

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like battery leakage on the chassis. That is a nice looking machine. Clean 'er up and show us what ya' got.

What is with the slots cut into the input shaft bearing holder on the tranny? I got two of these at the house that are cut almost the same way.

Hi - I am not sure what else to do clean up wise... Everything is pretty discolored, and per a previous thread I still need to figure out a good way to whiten parts. I think I may just use this as a runner and hybrid it with parts I don't mind breaking... and look for a nicer starter piece chassis wise etc...

As per the slots on the input shaft plastic my only guess is that it is from a razor blade or xacto knife to cut the foam cover piece or to remove it. Other than that I have no idea. I was wondering the same thing actually.

if i remember correctly, the instructions say to notch the bearing adapter to get the e-clip on and off easier.

Doesn't look like anything is incorrect. The rear tower may be proper, they did transition to the two hole type right around the end of Edinger production, I believe. Looks like it has unslotted lower spring perches, so it could go either way...

The top trans bearing carrier notches look sort of hack, the manual shows cutting a nice crescent out to get to the e-clip. To each builder their own, I guess... You can swap them from side to side and then you'll never see the hacked one.

Too bad about the acid spill. I'd clean it up as is and let it show it's battle scars.

One thing I have noticed is that the gold tub is more a champagne color, and I like the fact that the tub matches the nose and that matches tranny brace. I just got a much cleaner one about an hour ago from a friend so I will post photos of that as well.

the battery leak/acid stains I think look pretty cool, and with obtaining this new gold tub I am almost for sure gonna turn this into a runner. I'll post photos when that is done as well - later tonight I think.

Ok this is what I have now to make it a runner buggy with just spare stuff I had laying around.

- RC10 GT Steering - black
- B3 or B4 buggy wheels and tires (Proline) - they seem a little big though.
- Black turn buckles from something
- White rpm ball cups cut to fit the turnbuckles

I also think that the rear shocks are too long/springs are wrong or both - see the last photo.

Your rear shocks need to be in the outer holes on the arms, and there are supposed to be 3/8" or so of travel limiting spacers inside the shock (originally they used fuel tubing).

- ok well I figured it out. The rear shock springs that the previous owner had on the car are too long/big. Since I havent really gone through and cleaned much on the car, the shocks had not been rebuilt either. So I replaced the spacers inside and put on the correct size springs and now everything lines up as it should.

I don't understand. What is this "Manual" and "Instructions" you guys are talking about?

manual is the book that helps you to assemble the model step by step, instructions are reffering to the separate leaflet provided for a special part (Stealth, shock, bearing adapters...)
