Digital Recievers and ESC's + Servo

Seams to me digital has great and (what I did not expect) drawbacks. I bought the Flysky FS GT3B 2.4GHz 3-channel transmitter, FS GR3C 2.4GHz 3-channel receiver. I have not gotten her in the mail yet, and already went shopping for a digital high/fast touque servo for my old 1/10th scale truck, with the thinking I can use this servo latter on advanced projects. Before I know it, I got a $50 servo, and have not even plugged it in to the above receiver, when it dawn on me that this servo might need a programmer purchase at some future point. I know I could have shopped around for a cheaper servo that did not need ever a programer, I ended up getting the Hitec HS-5625MG with only 3 metal gears installed, and it's programmable, and yes I think I paid a stupid price of $46.99 U.S. Once I started reading the specs, what is this self calibration (what I did not expect about digital) is thing going to "home itself" every time it gets power. What is this coreless design, but a zapping the hell out of my batter so be so quick, I mean could I have gotten another "digital" servo that just worked like the old analog ones?
I am hoping that you guys could recommend, a servo 1. Last a long time. 2. Work like the analog ones I am used to. 3. Be fast, without compromising the current that I was used to seeing, that uses PWM like digital receivers put out.
What servo should I have gone with? I mean, this is middle ground $ for digital, and I wanted something for future adventures in mind. Should I buy all metal upgrade gears like x2 sets, like now, and when I go to sell it in the future, I get a lot, for having x2 unused sets?
Will my IntelliSpeed 12T Modified Electronic Speed Control with ABS Brakes & Reverse also not work with the above receiver?
