Just got a six gear transmission off the bay. Opened it up to see it have all metal gears and bearing through out, is this a up grade?. Is it safe to run brushless set on it?

Basically the ideler gears have been upgraded. Were they 32 pitch or 48?

Do you have the part numbers for switching the slipper assembly to 48 pitch on the 6 gear? I've been searching with little luck

the 6 gear doesn't have a slipper. what you see is an external diff. the only thing need to change the spur to 48p is to buy the appropriate style 48p spur and put it on. i normally use kimbrough spurs.

Is this the appropriate style? Also, what size "dif balls" go in this spur gear. It takes a lot more than the stock spur and I am not sure what size. Are they 3/32, 5/64, or something else?

6 gear uses 1/8" diff balls.

so ok to run a 21.5 brushless system on it, since mine has all metal gears?

Will the spur gears in my link above work and do they use 1/8" balls?

Thanks

with all metal gears, it should be bulletproof, and the only thing that will break is you will probably melt the spur gear since there is no slipper. I would probably put some kind of lube in the gearbox since you will have metal on metal.

yes, the above spur gears posted will work for the 6 gear diff and use 1/8th balls.

Cool, thanks for the info.

Do you load all 18? My stocker only uses 8 I believe.

BTW, what pitch is the stock spur on the original RC10's?

Thanks again.

it's whatever lines up with the diff rings. I think stock was 8, some gears you can put more in. doesn't really matter as long as they line up on the steel diff ring. Obviously in a symmetrical pattern.

32 pitch was the original gear, but it changed to 48 pitch in later versions.
