I managed to score a A pan six gear car this weekend for $60 from my brother. I hope to take this :



And make it look (sort of) like this:



It's my first RC10 from ~1987-89 time frame. The pics are two different vintages of it. I had dyed all the nylon burgundy and later mounted a Parma Chenowth body to it. I had a cheap set of aluminum wheels, the brand escapes me and custom front arms made on "government time" at Kodak by a machinist friend of a friend. The esc was a novak and I don't remember which motor was in it.

I currently have a Reedy Mach 1 waiting and a Magnum Jr radio. I need to pick up the body, some plastic wheels that look close, a new trans, front a arm mounts and an old Novak ESC. Tires are undecided.

Looks like a nice car. I think those aluminum wheels were made by Duratrax.

Thanks guys, I thought those might be Duratrax rims but it was foggy. I don't plan on drilling the holes in the chassis, don't worry. It's going to be a loose tribute as it will look similar body etc but I am not drilling the chassis, probably won't have the same motor, esc or front arms. I am dying everything burgundy and I need to find that front bumper, pro line maybe? I would like to find similar rims if I cannot find the duratrax ones.
Right now, the first order of business is to secure a solid trans, the one in the car is shot. The idle gears have chunks missing, the top gears are a mess, the outputs are great though. The case has been cut and modified as well. I am bidding on one right now so bit by bit I will peice her together. Other items I realized are missing as of last night is the rear trans brace and body mount as well as the wing tubes.

Those wheels look exactly like the ones on the Wild One

It's been slow going right now. I picked up a solid trans off Ebay for a fair price. I have blue and green RIT dye right now and part of me likes the look of blue arms better than burgundy. I may just dye the nylon parts blue, get the Chenowth body and paint it a different color. I'll probably do the conversion to modern 2.2 wheels just so I can find tires. This gold pan tribute to my old car has changed direction but it'll still have the same vibe IMHO.
All the parts are disassembled for cleaning right now. I have a newer adjustable servo saver assembly for it and a Reedy Mach 1 motor. The radio gear is all set, Futaba 2PBKA Magnum Junior with the Futaba speed control.
All I really need to pick up are the wheels/tires, body and paint. A little extra cash would help motivate this project, until then I clean and assemble what I have.

what are your plans for the body that came with it...it would look awesome on one of the rigs im building. i havent got the b/s/t section privileges just yet but keep me in mind. you have a great start to an awesome project...wish i still had some pics of what my first rig looked like back in the day...i gotta go off memory and when youve bounced your head off concrete a few to many times its foggy sometimes

I managed to secure a solid trans, a Proline front bumper and a small lot of parts with nose tubes, trans braces and extra bulkheads. I used one bulkhead that already had the wing tubes in it. Granted with the Chenowth body I may not run a wing anyhow. I cleaned up all the plastic parts and at one point I really didn't want to dye them. I put the trans and chassis together and it lacked color so that changed my mind back to dying. However, I am not crazy about burgundy like my original. After checking out Askbob's gold pan project, I decided to dye the parts black. I also installed the GT steering components and some HD steering linkages that I had. I ordered yellow wheels from JCRacing and those should arrive soon. I wanted bit more pizazz over black or white. I still need a body and front tires. I'll probably order those next week. It's less of a tribute now and more of a retro modified project.

Looks really nice. I like the vintage touch to it. What about a stock motor and a wiper speed control?

Thanks. It has a Reedy Mach 1 stock motor in it but I will never use a wiper. This is a runner and the goal is to have fun with it and enjoy it. I would much rather have an ESC than a wiper and batteries.

Lookin real sharp, should be a fun runner. Why dont you just use the worlds style body thats in your first post?

The worlds body was sold with the worlds car I had. The sorta-red Coke body would need to be striped and repainted before I put it on this car and I'd just rather buy another body before doing that.
