this was the first rc10 i bought, i originally bought it for basher purposes but i got caught up restoring it. i know there's still more than plenty to do, but i've been building it again today so i thought i'd get some pictures here so the period police can help me along  . i know i need another battery cup, also 1 rear spring retainer (without the slot) and a few nicer original ball cups.

any help you lot can give me would be appreciated as i want to get it right.

thanks dude, some of the rear end was NIP, and the tires are new. but the rest has just endured plenty of scrubbing and bleaching. the pan looks okay but has been used a few times.

looks good, you missed 2 screws on the transmission brace. 8)
What did you use to whiten the parts?
I just put mine back together and am not thrilled with the whitening.

I've got a metric tonne of white (brown, actually) parts, I'm going to line up the chemicals and some jars for a cleaning shootout. I'll bet they come out cleaner brown... Nothing seems to get parts really white. I'm gonna try denture cleaner on one batch.

hmmm, denture cleaner...

use drain cleaner for one as well, i asked a guy on ebay a long time ago what he used to bleach all the parts he was selling and he said some kinda drain cleaner. he was from europe or something though and the brand name he mentioned wasnt anything i had heard of.

i know :) , i'm waiting now for some new hardware from tower, i've run out now and i ran out just about there. i just scrubbed each bit to within an inch of its life and then left it all in a big bowl of neat beach for 24 hours and it's come up a treat. some of the back end is out of a NIP 6-8 bag but rest is original from this buggy.

what? scared of a little burning sensation? ;)

castrol super clean is just about as bad. i was an idiot with it the first time and used it to scrub on plastic parts without using gloves. i literally had scabby hands for awhile afterward! (i stopped as soon as my hands felt like they were melting...)

things are slowing down a bit for this now (no time and the things i need are proving pretty hard to find). but i found time to paint the body this weekend. it's been nervy as the body is an original and my hands were shaking :) .
it's not turned out perfect but i'm really happy with it as this was my first buy and was prety grotty when i first got it. i managed to get hold of a couple more slotless spring retainers too making a full rack.
i've got the driver and the wing but havent started painting them. i'm not sure about electrics. i have an NIP mechanical speed control, but dont know whether to go for a period ESC. what servos and recievers would be correct for this build? and are they still relatively easy to find??
