modern 85' worlds tribute
so heres my modern runner, another WOIN b4 competitor, well we'll see . and since ive always wanted to do a 85' worlds jammin jay replica - i figured id join the two together. i dont know how this will turn out, but im hoping the product will be worthy of a jammin jay halsey paintjob
this is what ive built so far, im going to chop a heavily used gold nose (ala y'ernat al style ) since i think it would be more appropriate. and got another delivery today with a huge lot of the needed parts.
ive been collecting parts for a while now and finally started a few nights ago to build. comments welcomed
(one again, sorry about my horrible photography skills)

Wow, nice collection of parts... I'd like to see your part list! What shock towers are you using?

Re: modern 85' worlds tribute
haha, that pic was taken before the rest of the parts arrived yesterday!
The rear is a stock fiberglass tower straight off an RC10T. and the front I really don't know . I originally bought a nip stock RC10T fiberglass tower for the front before I decided what direction I wanted to go with the build. but when I decided on the JJ 85' World tribute, I figured black would be more appropriate. The one on the buggy now is composite with the same exact dimensions as the original 10T. however it came in a lot I bought from Goatless
I'll put together a parts list for this shortly.

Thanks Phin! I'll post clearer pics of the front tower for a difinitive id.
Yes the rear arm mounts are GT from GPM, zero deg.

That looks like it. Now if I only had some motivation, or cash, to keep working on this

I didn't know that the rc10gt rear arm mounts would work on the gold pan! Is there anything you need to do to get them to fit? Where can I get these?jon burrows wrote:Thanks Phin! I'll post clearer pics of the front tower for a difinitive id.

Something was a little tight. But not but much. I took a few swipes of some coarse sandpaper to the klein arms and then it was able to swing freely.

Re: modern 85' worlds tribute
Actually I was gunna mention it but forgot....I don't think the GT mounts work perfectly on a buggy.
The arm mount holes are drilled further back on a GT chassis and the mounts themselves are offset forward. If you use GT mounts on a buggy tub you'll shorten the wheelbase...or stretch the wheelbase if you turn the mounts backwards like jon's done. If you've got the GT mounts with the 2 degree anti-squat mounting the backwards is a no-no. If you get the GT mounts with 0 degree anti-squat your handling is going to suffer.
All that is only a problem if you're going to run it though.

Re: modern 85' worlds tribute
definately 100% not perfect!
I used the 0 deg. mounts and wasnt aware at this point in the build that they would throw off the wheelbase (I'm real glad Phin noticed that though! ). I'm not dead set on the alloy GT mounts I have on there, so I'll probably change them out just incase I do decide to run it, although, I don't run much of anything these days.
My sole reason for using these was, I thought (THOUGHT) I read in the WOIN thread that the GT mounts were used with the Klein conversion. Im going to do a little more digging around.

GT axle carriers are used not the mounts.

Awww...I got all excited about the alloy mounts. So what are the implications if you lengthen the wheelbase?
