To rebuild an original RC10 or to buy new?

I currently have a copper rc10 that is if I had to guess at least 20 years old. Seems like I will need all new electronics to get it running, magnum junior battery cradle is shot, receiver seems to be picking up interference, im sure a new motor is in order, batteries are all done which means a charger will be needed as well. I am into the car a few dollars, has a graphite chassis now, and longer a arms front and rear. Some of the plastics are a little worn and I'm sure they will need replacement. So it looks like a complete rebuild, I'll prob even crack open the gear box to give it a good lubing and the shocks as well.

I'm not into or into the nostalgia of having a vintage car up and running, just looking at the wise dollar decision. If I was to buy something new I'd probably stick to the team associated 2 or 4 wheel drive 1/10th scale buggy or truck. I know they vary in price, but looking for some input from the forum. Thank you!

the gold pan will take work, but they are worth the effort.

if you just want to get going it's hard to beat the new associated rc10b4.1 ready to run. great car.

do you want to race?

Even if you go new car you'll still need Lipos and charger for Lipos also brushless ESC and motor. Either way it's gonna cost but with todays electrics it's still cheaper in the long run than back in the day.

If you're not attached to restoring a vintage car then the obvious choice for you is to sell the RC10 you have to someone that wamts to restore it, and then use the funds to buy new.

Thanks guys! I would like to race someday. Back when I lived in NY there was a hobby shop there that had a nice track in the back, lots of parts and some very knowledgeable workers. Now that I am in PA north of Philadelphia I haven't really scouted out the area. I would like to run the car for fun and have a few friends who like to take their cars out on the street. So it will be a mix. I was leaning towards going 4 wheel drive but not too sure if it will be buggy or truck. What do you guys have?
