Whitening with Peroxide, what UV light to use

I understand this whitening process can be achieved but using a UV light in conjunction with Hydrogen peroxide, instead of relying on mother nature to provide optimal sunlight. I am also aware there are 3 different UV spectrum's UV-A, UV-B and UV-C (nasty stuff which is used for germicidal irradiation)! My question is this, for those of you who have "successfully" whitened your parts using a UV light in conjunction w/ Hydro P, which brand UV light or product do you recommend? Is a special ballast needed with a bulb, or can I go to Spencer gifts and purchase a cheap black light bulb?

Thanx for any help!

I use a UVB 2.0 26w lamp, something for a Reptile Terrarium, apparently the 'B' rays are important 8) more watts the better. Takes about 6-12 hours to complete a full white part treatment.

I also use 12& peroxide cream, yes the stuff used for hair dressing. Its very cheap and gets the job done for larger parts using it as a paste. If you have a large amount of small/tiny parts then use liquid peroxide and immerse the parts.

Fakiee,

Thanx! I thought of sneaking my RC10 Parts in to the a tanning bed at the gym I go to, but I found something else that looks pretty aggressive and will do the trick quick!
ESU Reptile Slimline Reptile Fixture with Desert 7% UVB Lamp

BTW x 2 on the hair dye gel. I actually thought of that too!

I will be posting a custom WOIN 93 world's build. I'll show the process using this light and document it, pretty well. I should have the new thread posted in the next week or so.

I had great success with a sunny day. 20 year old yellowed nylon looks brand new.

Me too, the results are pretty spectacular, especially given the starting point!

I wrap the outside of a shallow glass oven dish with tin foil. Peroxide and parts go in, then I leave it outside. One day of sunshine is enough, or three days of cloudy weather. Low cost, and works perfectly. 8)
