Showcase's Kinwald Worlds inspired WOIN build

WOIN (what's old is new), I would call it a resto-mod, but I suppose that doesn't carry over to RC from the automotive world. I have researched a ton on here and viewed several different builds, but still found myself putting together the pieces. For example, how do I get my white parts looking new, how do I get 2.2 wheels to fit my vintage RC10, what is needed for a truck front end on a buggy, how do I get a B4 top shaft and slipper to work on my stealth etc... I hope to make this build overly detailed, so it can be road map for the next guy. I am sure this may have been done, but I never saw one build that had all the answers "I" was looking for. This may not answer all the questions the next guy is looking for, but it should save him some time trolling the forum. I hope to have it be as inclusive as possible. As I progress through the build you will see where I make mistakes, which is a good thing, because this will keep the next guy from making the same mistake.

Now the reason for my build.
I have my box art worlds car, which resides on a shelf, but I really want one I can use without fear of destroying an actual historical relic. My local track is starting a vintage 1/10 buggy class. Rules are pretty basic, nothing newer than 94, chassis mods allowed, any 2.2 or smaller wheel / tire combo, and shocks, any speed control, but must run a brushed motor and NIMH batteries. My build will follow this criteria. The car will basically be a RC10 worlds car w/10T front end treatment, with modern inspired components such as shocks, wheels, tires, top shaft slipper etc... Here is what I am starting with:

This looks like it will be a great car when its finished, I'm looking forward to seeing this being done.

I'm not all that knowledgeable the RC10, so this question may sound silly. But what is the "10T front end treatment"? Is it a common mod to run the truck suspension on the front? I don't own a 10T so I'm just curious.

Showcase, missing from you list is what arms your planning on using. Dynotech/RPM/Jeepz....you need to have one of those for the 10T front end treatment.

Thank you for pointing out my lack of listing arms choice. I have a set of worlds buggy arms I am using for the front and rear.

To answer the question of the 10T front end treatment:
Essentially you use the truck front bulk head , shock tower and nose kick plate. This allows the use of longer stroke front shocks, which in turn allows for increased front suspension travel. I am opting to use a special front shock tower made by Fibre lyte, which gives a bit more room for the nose of the body to slide though. It keeps it looking more true to the buggy and less like a truck. The trick is to make it look like it was "meant to be". A novice eye will simply think it's a stock buggy front end when in reality it is anything but...

I think you mean the one on the left... Unfortunately it did not come with a body, but I'm sure it was quite the calamity!

AE worlds arms or RPM worlds arms (they are different sizes), just from the title of Kinwald worlds, I'm thinking your using AE worlds standard arms. A piece of advice is that will make the front end too narrow. When I get a chance, I can shoot a few pictures of the differences of the arms.

Either way, it looks like a fantastic start to a build :)

JK,
You are correct, I was using the AE worlds arms. Shoot a pic if you can. I am curious just how different they will be in width. I want to keep this looking as stock as possible.

can't use the stock width rc10 arms with the truck nose plate. it'll be way too narrow. you have to use either rpm "worlds", dynotech "klein", or the arms that jake makes.

Whoa...
JK,
That's a big difference! Are the RPM worlds arms still available?

Sr8p,
How can I get in touch with Jake? I don't think the Dynotech klein arms are available. It seems their website says they are out of business.

No, the RPM Worlds arms arent available (other than on ebay) & the Dynotech "Klein" arms are the exact same size as them, they were the replacement arm a lot of WOIN builders were using. I didnt pull my BigJeepzz arms off for a comparison in that photo, but they are a touch longer then the RPM Worlds.

I'm sure there are other options out there, but they are rare as hen's teeth (Andy's Pro Race front arms come to mind).

Yeah, I was looking at the website and it can be misleading, I thought they were out of business, too. But if you read carefully it states they are simply stopping development of new product and scaling back inventory.
