Hello All, I just got my first RC10 this weekend in a trade and I am very excited about getting it up and running again. I could never afford an RC10 back in the day but I was in love with the one my best friend had, it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. I recently got back into RC cars for the first time in the last 20+ years and but I have found that most newer cars just don't have the same style as the cars I grew up with. Through the magic of ebay and craigslist I have been building a quite a collection (while my wife just shakes her head and walks away mumbling.)
So finally having an RC10 gold pan I have ventured into the forums to figure out which one I have and how to properly restore it. I plan on running it for fun, no racing except against my daughter and her Blitzer Beetle. Even though it will be a runner I want to get it close to period as possible. I have gone through the First 25 years thread and I think I have confused myself even more. I just can't seem to pin down which model it is, it seems like it may be a bit of a mish-mash of parts but I have no idea.
Here are some pics of what I am starting with. The chassis does have an A stamp under the motor but I didnt get a pic of it. The motor is a blue label associated motor with the East Edinger address but the guy I got it from said it came loose with the car when he bought it from someone else. He said he got it with a different motor installed it but when he was running it it died on him. Anyway on to the pics and Thank you all for looking.

Not a bad looking car man. I have and have seen much worse. Just remember its all about having fun and enjoying what you have. Some may say shelf it other will tell you to run it, I say enjoy it. Also welcome to the forum, be sure to read the rules. It can get thick quick if you step outta line.
Al[so some pics of teh bottom of the car would be awesome!

Thanks Bent, I dont think it looks to bad either, just needs a little love. I am definately going to to run it but I want to do a light restore also. Personally I think the hunt for parts is half the fun. I'll get a bottom pic up in a few mins. Lools like I forgot to resize that one. As for the rules I am not one to make waves lol. I know you guys see your share of "love it when I was a kid so whats it worth?" threads but thats not what I'm here for. I hope to soak up as much knowledge and as many tips as I can.

Definitely a mish/mash! I see early shock towers and front arms. The shock caps have been changed out. I love the improvised rear sway bar and the adjustable front. Sweet period racing mods. Don't know what's up with the chassis work toward the rear drivers side. All in all it looks to be a late edinger/early caddillac owned by a racer who "updated" as time when by. I'm sure more experienced board members will have more to add. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Sin, thats what I was thinking after going thru the First 25 year post. I could get more than a few things to matchup anywhere.
Steelhead ~ thanks for the comment she is kinda pretty.
I got my electronics in today and have run into a transmission issue. The diff seems to spin properly ie I turn one wheel and the other wheel spins backwards and when the car is on the stand motor and trans seem ok. The issue is when I put it on the ground it moves slowly but the spur gear is spinning far more than it should. If I hold the car in place the spur will spinn freely even thought the car isnt moving. I am going to pull out and rebuild the tranny but which manual should I use for the rebuild?

The diff is too loose, tighten it up and you will be good to go

Dont be man, we all was there at one time. I for get what side

but pull one of the upper rods so you can get the dog bone out. Then you take a allen wrench and where the dog bone slides into the axle there is a small hex screw there that you turn that tightens the diff. See..................

Oh and also you may have a little plastic piece covering it. If you do make sure you get it back on.

He has a six gear, just tighten the nut on the spur gear cone and you'll be good.
