Newbie here. Probably been asked already but so far haven't been able to find an answer in a search. I got a set of JC Racing 5 spokes and in researching 2.2" tires I realized that depending on the tire there are several different widths available, none of which seem to correspond to the wheel widths. For example on Tower they list rear Dirt Hawgs I with tire specs 2.2" bead diameter, 3-1/2" overall diameter and 1.75" tread width. I measure the overall width of the rear wheel at 1-3/8". I've seen threads with pictures of the Dirt Hawgs mounted on these wheels so I know they work but in researching tires what do I look for in a spec to make sure the tire fits properly width-wise on the wheel? If been covered already a link would be appreciated. Thanks.

one of the things that happened when buggies moved to 2.2" front wheels is that they also got a bit wider. Unfortunately, the JC wheels are still of the narrow variety, so a lot of the tires available will not quite fit perfectly. Look for a narrower ribbed style tire to fit the best on there.

as far as rear tires, they got a bit wider, but should fit on the rear wheels just fine. it's like fitting a full scale tire on a wheel. the tire manufacturer gives you a range of wheel width that the tire will work on, the profile of the tire just changes a little.

Went with Proline 4 ribs and calibers. I think looks okay.

I like the Calibers too, went with 2 sets of those on my "Barney" Turbo Optima build. That's a nice clean gold tub there, so far. Now put some stuff in it!

The Dirt Hawgs were definitely designed for a wide buggy front wheel. They kinda work on a narrow front wheel, but not really ideal. If you're not too picky they might fit good enough.

JC Racing, Shumacher, and dBoots make narrow front tires.

Tommy just wondering what gearing you are using?? I've been trying to get close after switching to b3 wheels and have no clue.

I set it up only as a roller. Haven't played around with gearing.
