Sorry for the new topic but I think this should have an own topic.
I just looked at the rear end and this is what I came up with.
Have somebody done this allready, if not sounds very weird that I`m the first to came up with this setup.
It is very easy to make one piece shockstay.

Hi Jerzi, that is exactly what I am going to do on my Mid too. Did the same thing on my modern Schumacher Cougar SV. The reason I am going to do it on the Mid is the use of the custom lay shaft and the B4 slipper. It is a bit bigger so it interferes with the shock if I have a gear cover on.

Thanks for sharing your setup :)

I am sorry to say All of my Mid's have that setup. Reason: The gear cover can come of super fast.

Found another image of this kind of setup (Google Images). As I can see he is also using a custom lay shaft and slipper. That's probably why.

Next mod trye is to put the lazer zx arms and driveshafts to this car.
I tryed yesterday to put zx5 wheels on and they fit very good.
This is superb news for me so now I can order new wheels to this car.
What kind of new bidys will fit this car. have somebody tryed an asso b44 for example.

That setup is actually not that uncommon. It has its pros & cons. The advantage mentioned previously, that it's easier to remove the gear cover, is certainly true; it also provides some extra protection to the shocks from hits while the car is going forward (i.e. most of the time) from the front or sides. On the con side, it's that much easier for the shocks to be damaged by a rear hit; i.e. while reversing or another RC car smacking into them.

I kind of think the original location is best, and that's coming from someone who tends to mod the hell out of everything in an attempt to improve things...so take it for what it is. :)

Yeah this has been thought of by more than a few. Personaly I like this idea, kinda like the ZX series of Lazers.

I went with a second tower plus spacers to beef up the usualy weak single tower.

Looks very nice with those double rear towers, Jason. Maybe I'll copy that setup :)

I like your idea, Jason. The Optima series' shock towers were definitely one of the weak links in the design. Practically every used Optima you see has bent shock towers, especially the rears. My solution was similar but without spacers, and retains the original shock mounting location. I just sandwiched in a 3mm carbon fiber brace.

Now I have copied this idea too! I will probably also copy the idea of having two towers in the rear as the rear body mount does not match the body anymore
