I forgot I never posted photos of this car I grabbed about 6 months ago off of eBay. I got it for the chassis and the gearbox (MIP), but to this point, I've kept it as I originally got it. Neat car, and brings back a lot of memories of how they were raced when I was running these stupid things 2-3 times a week. At this point, I'm starting to contemplate sending it to the chop shop, because I don't know how much of this car I want lying around anymore. Space is at a premium, and I need to pick and choose what gets shelf and display space in the shop.

That's pretty sweet. How does the front end handle in the rough stuff?

Do you know anything about the orange connector on the ESC? I have a butt load of them.

The connectors are second generation Race Prep. It was the standard for anyone who didn't direct solder back then. The original RP connectors didn't have the reverse polarity protection, and it allowed you to connect them backwards accidentally if you tried really hard enough. I have a set on my Houge/cardinal RC10.

The flat front end worked on smooth tracks, and like a lot of dirt oval cars now (read: Custom Works) still haev flat front ends. This was a similar set up to the Big Boys Toys sprint car front end setup. Personally, I didn't like it much, as it tended to dart on bumpy tracks. On smooth foam tire tracks, though, it was the shiz.

Thanks for the info Rouge. One more about the connectors and I will leave you alone. I also have a bunch of plugs that go with the RP connectors and they have what looks to be resistors and capacitors inside an epoxy BLOB with an LED in it. Some leds are green, some are red. I assume they are dis-chargers but do not know for sure. Any ideas?

I believe they were called Cobra Battery Bugs and were flatline, low amp dischargers for the old SCRs and SCRCs. I had a couple that I just threw out recently with alligator clips on them. Pretty much useless with todays batteries because we don't take them down to zero voltage, and vintage batteries... well, they are best not used either.

I can't tell you how many guys running the original race prep plugs had to send their ESC's in to get the brakes restored after plugging them in reverse polarity. Seems kind of like a no brainer, but I did it myself once......

i believe this is the reason that inspired the Cheetah Racing rc-10 10 degree caster wedges that went under the front bulkhead.

The flat format is what I have on my Big Boys car and it runs VERY true on carpet - you can place it anywhere and it hauls - now I just have to get my Trackmaster belt drive in tip-top and I will be all set.
