Do you mean because of the no commenting thing?

if the gallery we tried before had been more user friendly, the gallery forum wouldn't even be here. but at the same time, you wouldn't have been able to comment on pics in that gallery either.

I also assume you're referring to the "no comments allowed" rule... in which case I fully agree with you

yea the no comment rule.. i know that comments can blow up a post but thats kinda the fun (in a good way not to be mean just starts up something fun to talk about) .. just so you guys know it took me some time to post this cause i did not want to insult the people that make the best rc site on the net.. gotta go to work more on this later

I understand the 'no comment's rule because people(in general) can't follow directions. If the forum were open to questions only, like 'hey, how did you mount such and such' it would be very informative. The problem is you would have a ton of 'nice ride' and 'looks good' posts clogging up bandwidth and padding post counts from guys not paying attention to the rules. I'm as guilty as the next guy with these kinds of posts where appropriate, so I'm not denying that, for sure.
I do think it would be cool on some of the more unique cars for a little back story or some unique build information as much as possible, and that type of info is already encouraged in the rules.
it's a fine line to walk.

I think that it's supposed to be more like Tamiya Clubs Showroom- and your right, it is a big part of the fun to comment, critique and in MrLexans post just derail it in general

. But I can hardly imagine what Ruffys thread would look like now if someone wanted to view the actual cars! I think we have a "discussion" thread in that forum don't we? Couldn't it be used as one thread for commenting on any/all?

what would be cool is if people that post cars add a little bit of info, especially wheels, tires and bodies, so in your rc10talk searches for specific wheels or lexan, you can see samples of such.

gallery. It would be nice to have the info in the gallery so you can just search gallery for things like 'dahms' or 'eagle' or 'protech 2' and see a possibly finished example. Some guys actually have a build list.

where sometimes it would be nice to post on some pictures. it is nice to just cruise pictures for build ideas or just for fun without all the thread clutter, and the dreaded "quote with 5-100 pictures included" if someone likes your car or someone likes your car and have questions there is always the PM area.

Although I sometimes agree that it's weird not to be able to comment on people's gallery entries, I understand why the rule is in place...and I don't see how the gallery hurts the site in any way.

Maybe if you see something you like in the Gallery you can PM the owner to see if they would start a thread in the appropriate place

If you like it or have questions probably somebody else will too.
Some guys include a link if the car already has a thread - great idea

Some of the guys have linked the build posts in the gallery haven't they? That seems the simplest thing to do... so long as you ever made a thread for the specific car.. I haven't opened a gallery thread as I haven't done too many projects yet, but that's my plan - a link to the thread right under the pics to a car.
I guess the only "drawback" to that would be that every new join that views the forum and feels compelled to comment would pull the old stuff back to the front of the thread list. Is that bad, IDK. (I made it a goal to look through the entire backlog of every forum personally. Ive done the RC10, Losi, and Kyosho so far.

still a ways to go...

)

if everyone added pics to their posts using photobucket or whatever, conversations wouldn't be that big of a deal. you could just keep adding new pics to the original post.
problem is......... a lot of guys use attachments. when you do that you're only allowed 10 pics per post. so if you don't start your forum with a bunch of "place holder" posts right off the bat, you may/will eventually end up with a jumbled mess of a thread..... which is what we're trying to avoid.
