Ok guys, having recently resurrected my vintage rc10 with brushless/lipo power ive had loads of fun until running it flat out into the back of a parked car

Shock tower broke and i thought id got away with just that however ive just noticed the chassis has actually snapped in half at the rear tower!!!

What are my options? should i just ebay it for parts as is, or is there an aftermarket chassis i could buy (uk based and spares are rare over here)

I use this just for bashing and considered buying a new buggy/truggy so not really looking at spending $$$

Any pictures? By vintage I assume you mean B2 or later. For an original tub to snap there would of had to have been some significant previous damage.

Here you go, ive just finished stripping it down and think it may be fixable as i have some carbon fiber cloth and 2 ton epoxy if i can inject some epoxy into the crack and clamp into a vice it might do the trick

Composite craft has my tub and others have sent in theirs as templates too- may be able to buy a brand new vintage chassis soon.

The epoxy may very well get you going again if you can clamp it up real good. Let us know!

Those "extra" Stealth holes did you in

I sent a bunch of parts to Composite Craft too. Hope they have new ones available soon!

Agreed on the extra stealth holes - not enough strength left in the small section between the screws. Were the extra holes for mid-mount motor placement?

Some have luck using CA to repair CF, but that's a pretty significant break. I've also heard of incompatibility of epoxies being a factor. Repair in the bike industry generally entails cutting out then re-laying up the critical area. Google around in the CF and boat building webites for repair techniques. I seem to recall some discussions on rctech.net as well?

glue it, clamp it, hit another parked car, and see how it holds up. if it doesn't, buy another chassis.

If it doesnt work i have the tail section from a gold pan that was cut off a poorly swiss cheesed chassis that you could bolt onto the tailend in front of the crack.Since those chassis came with gold motor guard it wouldnt look so out of place.Don

I think I found the solution to this carck.
2mm thick carbon fibre plate under the chassis. Only in the rear will be perfect.

Thanks for the replies, I've used some CA and soaked the crack then clamped in a vice overnight, it's come out pretty good, I've also got 2mm carbon plate which I will use if it breaks again!

Better yet find a trashed gold pan and cut off the tail portion. Cut it off so you can pick up the rear bulkhead holes, and this will give you a rear bumper too. Take a belt sander to the front edge and give it a taper so it doesn't get hung up. The holes won't line up on the motor mount because it will be too low unless you bend the tail pan up to match.
EDIT I lied, you'd have to cut the pan off to try and pick up the speed controller servo holes, since that one is broken right through the bulkhead holes.
