Hi,
I got an original release Frog as a barter transaction off of Craigslist. I've never had a 'real' R/C vehicle before and I love it so far! My 10 year old daughter and I have spent hours running it so far.

My question is - other than eBay and Amazon, what are some good sources for replacement and hop up parts? I've noticed a front shock mod on the pages, but can't find these parts on the web.

My Frog handles OK, but it likes to shimmy at high speeds and likes to go in circles when you don't want it to. I've ordered some hop up tie rods that I think will help and some softer springs for the back. Other than that - what should I do?

I´m a novice on the Frog, but as with all other non ballraced buggy´s, it would be a good idea to get a set ball bearings for it. It should take some of the woblyness especially in the front.

CRP makes a two shock front setup.

As for the circles - short wheelbase, non slipper, enough motor power and a happy trigger finger will do that

First step, ball bearings if it doesn't have them. A Frog should have come with bearings in the gearbox from new, so you only need them for the rear axles and front wheels. Eight 5x11mm bearings total, any hobby shop should have them.

Second step, electronic speed control. This eliminates the resistor, mechanical speed control, and its servo. It saves weight, drastically increases run time, and gives you much finer throttle control, as well as brakes.

After that, just replace any worn or sloppy bits as needed. The Frog is back in production, so parts aren't hard to come by. Typical wear items are differential gears, rear axles and dogbones, and the aluminum brackets that hold the front kingpins.

If you are planning to get a Remote control with esc. You can get a fly sky one its pretty cheap. Less than $50.
Open the gearbox & re grease it. Clean it all the old stuff there..
As they mentioned bearings would be great. A great upgrade is dogbones for the rear differential. The old axles like to pop out! lol...

Agreed on the dogbone upgrade... I've always loved the Frog! I would check out tamiyaclub.com and join the forums there. A lot of great information and resources there more geared to Tamiya (obviously)

If You´re planning on a motor with higher power, You need to hopup the gearbox. Otherwise the differential will play tricks. As mentioned before, have a look at Tamiya club - They have interest groups for almost each Tamiya car.
