Graphite rear shocks are wierd????

I was just putting the finishing touches to my Graphite runner & when I replaced the rear oil I noticed the amount of spacers on the shock shaft. 3 in total on each shaft. So I thought this is built wrong & I looked up a manual on line & too my amazement this is correct.

Why on earth would AE do that ? It's only using just over half of the damper stroke

Looks like a truck shock shaft too me.

Not being a AE expert I thought I would ask too see if there is a better reason. Apart from stopping the drive shafts from falling out due to the over length shafts.

Cheers

I have always wondered why it took until the worlds car to get the proper length shocks. They were 1.02 which is the right length without spacers, where the 1.32's needed them. Maybe it was due to the way the shock aerated?
