Project "In Memory"

I thought I would post some pics of this project. Maybe I will get off my back side and finish it. The body is in reconstructive surgery and the aluminum rims are MIA :( .

This truck is no stranger to RC10Talk. But there are a lot of newer members so I will give a brief history. It was originally built by MosterBeetle and he sold it to MelvinsArmy. Check out Beetles thread here for body and wheel shots: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=90&p=493&hilit=dually#p493

I purchased it off Ebay from Scott earlier this year and that is how I found RC10TALK.COM.

I am naming this truck "In Memory" because Beetle built it to replicate his dad's truck. Once I get the body in paintable shape, it will be painted just like Beetle had it. Tires are a problem. I am going to use some street tires for now. We'll see how it looks when I find  the wheels.

Here is what I have so far. And before anyone reams me for the way I have the Rx wired, I know it is BEC but that is the only way I could get it to work :P . Hope you enjoy.

I would like to thank Scott for selling me this rare and beautiful ride, Shodog for the 6.8 kit, and Kenooze for the rear shocks. My plans are to redo the entire front with NIP parts I have and finish up the body and rims. I am also working on a trailer that will hold my "Queen No Name" car and they will set on a shelf together for the rest of their known lives.

But this one is for fun:

More on this project as it unfolds :D

That's cool. No worries on the Rx, old Futaba esc's (and the current Tamiya one) need to plug into the battery slot. :?

What did you do with the tires that came with it? I remember they were in good shape, no dry rotting. Did you get a new body for it?

I still have the tires, I just wanted something with some tread on it. If the tires I bought don't turn out right, I'll go back to the ones you gave me.

I would love to find a new body for it but that is a tough one. I want to keep that old GMC look. I painted up a mega cab and thought about making some fender extenders and using it but it just does not have that old sckool look of the GMC.

I should have my garage organized in a couple weeks and my work bench built. I'll be able to really get into then. Hopefully I'll find the wheels while unpacking.

Re: Project "In Memory" Help with the project name please.

Is the name of this project sitting well with you guys? It just does not fit right for me.

I would like a different name for this project. You know the history. Any ideas?

Project: "Crewcab Custom" (RC10 Dually)

This thread is for two custom rc10 crewcabs right, the TMS conversion and your tub project? Make sure one is a true runner 8)

Oh yeah, the tub will be a runner. I'll name that one "Crewcab Custom". I still have not decided if it will be a dually or not. Probably not. It would look cooler but then I gotta find wheels and stuff. I do have a cool idea for it though that will be trick as hell. Just gonna take some time and money.

To really appreciate this truck, you have to see it with the top on, although I do prefer topless  .

If you have not, click on beetles thread above to see it with the wheels and body. It was love at first site for me.
