O.K. so I'm finally to the point of having to charge my new LiPo battery and try my re-build out. I have a digital balance charger and was reading the instructions and have a few questions. First, they give me the option of a regular charge, balanced charge or quick charge. Which should I use and whats the pros and cons. The battery in a Gens Ace 5000 40C what can I expect for a charge time and run time with a 3900kva motor? Any other LiPo tips and tricks would be appreciated.

balance charge at 1c (5amps because it's a 5000mah battery).
charge time depends on how much juice is in there to start with.
make sure your esc's lipo cutoff is enabled, you don't want it to discharge under 3 volts per cell / 6v total for 2s.
you'll probably get 20-25 minutes, maybe more, maybe less.

Don't forget to put the battery on set for "storage" when you are done for the day. LiPos do'n't like to be stored completly full or discharged. Somewhere around 8.6 volts.

The voltage of a fully charged 2S liPo will be 8.4 volts MAXIMUM..

I would suggest that "mark in wi" has made a typo, and meant to type 7.6V as a suitable storage voltage..

Personally I store my LiPo's at about 7.8 Volts.. When I raced on a regular basis, I found that I would use approx 2000mA out of a 5000mAh pack, so I would just store it with whatever charge was left in the pack..

Please do not attempt or allow a 2S LiPo to charge to 8.6 volts..

Mark..

Opps! I meant 3.8 volts per cell. Not sure what I was thinking.
