Hello,

I have read threads here but am stll not sure what to do? I have an RC10 B3 that I want to convert to brushless. I will be running it for fun on the street. I guess from what I have read that I need a sensored motor, and do I need an ESC with a fan? They look very thick and not sure if it will fit. Was thinking I could fabricate a battery hold down rod that had a spot the esc could attach to? Bad idea? Any way what ESC and motor do you recommend? I was thinking of a 12 or 13 turn motor. Your suggestions are appreciated. Also of course I will be replacing the radio with a 2.4 radio and going lipo. Is it better to get a lipo battery that already has the wires attached?

If your not racing, I personally think a sensorless esc/motor will work just fine. I run a castle sidewinder which is sensorless and it runs great. I dont run a fan on it, but I do run the fan on my hobbywings. The hobbywing, with a fan on it still fits in my b4 without any problems.

I have 2 Sidewinders and just ordered a 3rd. They are great for bashing around. I actually prefer them over the Mamba. They're just a bit more mild. There are some cheap and reliable units from hobbyking and hobbypartz too. As for the lipo connection it's really just whatever you prefer. Pay close attention to where the manufacturer's wires are and think if it will work for the model you intend to use it in. Some come out of the side and some out of the top. The B3's set up works with most if I'm picturing it right in my head(I have 2, but don't have one in front of me). Most escs will fit whether they have a fan or not I think. Castle had a great sale going on. Not sure what their inventory is like at this point.

Hey Ren,
personally, these guys have already beat me to the punch but I'll deliver a lil more insight on the lipo question of leads already attached or not. I have both and really don't like the ones with the plugs that come off. I had switched around the positive and negative on one of my batterys and had it internally short. I got lucky that it just blew out the battery and not smoke the new ESC just put in it . There is another member here that did something very similar and smoked a new ESC...
