well I just was given about 3# of screws/nuts from a friend...I have tumbled them and now they are not blue...I seem to remember that someone used Olive oil and heat to get a nice finish???? trans fluid,kero,motor oil...did not work well.....ANY HELP!!!! Thanks JohnnySr

You would need to heat the part till it glowed red then you drop it into a pool of room temp oil. Just tried it with two turnbuckles and it worked.

edit - you said blue.......so your hardware is aluminum. Heat and oil trick works on steel

If the parts were blue anodized aluminum, the only way you'll get them blue again is to re-anodize them.

Johnny if they are steel screws, a cold blackening solution is what you need. You could heat them to red hot and dunk them in trans oil, from what I hear. But that's pretty tough to do with that much hardware. Better with the cold blackening solution.

usually about 45 bucks, if you can find just the solution cheaper, you could do that.

alternatively, you could spend 40 bucks at mcmaster-carr for the common sizes and get fresh brand new hardware, black oxide or stainless.
