Hey everyone,hope all is well.
I just picked up another XX4 parts car and I *think* it has some truck body mounts on it.
Can anyone help I.D 'em?
I have another XX4 in really nice shape, all graphite with the early solid chassis.
I'm planning on buying a Worlds Edition chassis for it,as it's pretty much W.E. specs, apart from the chassis.
I'll then use that nice chassis to restore this one...But,if those are Heavy Metal truck mounts,I might not be able to resist going that route with it.

I was hoping you'd answer that for me,Joey, thanks mate!
Think I'll have to hunt down a body, has anyone bought the BlueGroove offering?
I guess the decals are impossible to find, huh?
Paid damn near $200 for some NIP XX4 decals this week.
That hurt, but I had to have 'em.
Repros will be made.

Man, that's a cool truck. I'm not sure I've seen these before. Must've come out during the time I was MIA for a few years. Just based on a Street Weapon looks like?
I'm sure you could track down a body that would work. Doesn't look too far off of whats offered for the usual stadium trucks.

I think its based more on the XX4 (long wishbones, chassis etc)
For some reason I though these trucks were classed as 'Soda Trucks'? - An obvious predecessor to todays SC (except I guess a truck bodied XX4 would handle quite well

)

Back in the 80's we had a class called "Hardbody" which were the trucks before the goofy looking Monster Truck (Stadium Truck) class was introduced.

Almost like that RCCA Project Optima. Are there pics of that in the scans section? I have tried the search, but no luck....My son is kind of into "scale" things (DOn't know where he got that from

) so an idea I have been considering is this body:
On a standard (maybe lengthened) buggy chassis. With buggy sized wheels/tires, haven't decided yet whether to use buggy suspension or widen with truck arms...

Thats awesome! Funny how they are pretty much SCT's yet didn't take off, unlike now!! I've never heard of this 'heavy metal' stuff, and I consider myself a die-hard Losi fan!!
They look simply like street weapon body mounts on there, so an easy conversion for anyone want to do one - just need to find a bodyshell and would make an awesome and refreshing build, XX4 parts are easy enough to come by, those tyres look like sprint tyres too.
I'm getting ideas in my head already...oh dear...
If anyone knows of where some bodies might be I might go for a build and bump my XX4 down the order!!!

BlueGroove are doing repro bodies.
The decal sheet would be the only fun stopper.
I'm can't resist-that XX4 is going to get a truck body.
They're also known as Class 8 trucks,too.
That scan did come from this site.

they truly didnt handle all that good. like today's sc trucks, they floated pretty bad over the jumps. i was bq that day, finished 3rd in the b main. they are awesome and always draw a big crowd at the track. that day we (me and 2 buddies) had 3 running in 4wd modified, giant 8th scale outdoor track super hard packed under a thin layer of fluff.
here were the other 2 trucks that day:

Not too bothered about handling as its gonna sit on my shelf, but a Heavy Metal XX4 build does sound cool! I've got a xx4 in parts which was gonna be my next buggy build, but now I am undecided whether to do this or not.
I dont really want to buy another XX4 just for the heavy metal version, but I want a XX4 buggy build too, i guess I'll have to bite the bullet!
BTW, what issue of RCCA was the advert from?

I think that the major reason they didn't take off in that time relates to a couple of things; first is that (my memory anyway) they weren't promoted all that much; they ran a few ads but that was pretty much it. I'm not sure that quanities ever made it off of the Left coast. Second is that there was not a lot of tie to full scale racing - yes, there was the SODA group that ran trucks such as this in the desert venues of the West coast and Baja but there wasn't a series that was National in nature to the best of my knowledge.
Traxxas hit the SC truck right between the eyes with a simple, reasonably priced vehicle that looked like full scale race vehicles - pretty much a combination that will promise success!
But I always thought that the Losi truck was cool but it never gained a following in the Midwest to my recollection....
