I love mine...I beat the poop outta it, and it keeps on ticking...you can get an RTR version from amainhobbies.com for around 210 + shipping.
I would ditch the eletronics personally, but if your just gonna run in your back yard, it should be okay.
only upgrade needed: alloy front arm mount
suggested: titanium tie rods (i still havent done this myself though)
I run brushless/4200's and it is more speed than i could ever need.
here it is next to my RB5...

I run an academy now. I think there's a new Lazer out Nov 1st. May wanna wait for that one. I think the body looks cooler. I might get one of these to run with my RB5.

Great car indeed, IMO, the first really useful upgrade is the titanium screw set. The Kyosho screws really suck!! Second would be the front brace and an alloy front bulkhead, I've broken several on mine... You should also add shims just behind the rear beveled gear if you don't want to break it every pack... I finished 1st at my local club this year with that car, leaving behind X10 Preds, Schumacher Cats and Losi XXX4. I ran something like 50 packs in it and did not have to rebuild a diff. once

Go for it! (but now that the B44 will be available soon, I won't be able to resist a long time

) Cheers.

Well actually there's 2 releases up:
the RTR kinda thing 'sport' I believe it's called and one with a different battery setup: on the worlds championships last month they were testing both saddle and stick pack versions. Might even be a third version : the Shin worlds version with the masters own tweaks and specials.
Anyway the reason for return:

Tulsa's 100 box shipped , you can't go very wrong for that price.

I have one, but I've never run it! Lovely car to build though, it literally falls together (with the hex screws). I still run a Belt lazer from time to time.. now there was a car

That one is the original "Pro" version of the SB, not the SB V2. Academy cars are pretty durable also.

although the price is night and day, i love the yokomo bx, latest 4wd release in off-roading. Lots of guys at my track run the losi xx4, the jconcepts also, and 1 or 2 run a kyosho sometimes, but i love the yoke. Parts are pretty easy to get and i gotta say i love the new yoke. i will probably get a b44 but will probably race the yoke

how hard is it to find the parts for the academy vehicles?? That is a good deal. HMM something to ponder about.

I have a racer at my track sponsored by Academy and he seems happy with the buggy.
I too want to get a 4wd and have been debating on what route to go. I looked at the Kyosho, I looked at the BJ, and MRC. Now, with the AE guys coming out with a 4x4, I am seriously considering this move. My only complaint is that the setup appears saddle style, and Im thinking about LiPo, so the configuration of the MRC really has my attention.
RC Chick, here is a good threads on the MRC 4wd buggy:

I think i have seen this available through several stores, amainhobbies.com.

Yea, but the Orion Ones i was looking at are stick. The saddle ones seems more expensive. Might consider it though.

I loved my ZX-5. I had the aluminum front and rear bulhheads, front a-arm pivot plate, and aluminum front knuckles. I broke a number of the knuckles right where the ballstud hole was. Build the diff gears to where they are tight (but not binding) or else you will eat them up. I ran a Novak GTB w/6.5 in it. I loved it, not too much power, but still plenty of speed. Can't say much about the Academy. Never seen one.
