I have a line on a freebie that is in good order, but I know nothing about them. Are there still parts anywhere? What tires, rims fit? Are they 190 or 200 mm bodies?

Lots of parts, standard TC wheels, 190 body! Great Car!

I have a TC4, and it's a great runner. Easy to work on, and it's basically the same as the 3. Most parts should interchange with no problem.

getting somewhat harder to find parts but lots of rollers around. I have one here and always been a good car.

The TC3 is to onroad what the RC10 is to offroad or what the EX1 is to pistol radios - it left a mark on the category, although a lesser one than the RC10. Still it's pure legend on wheels. Barry Baker should have won the worlds with it in 2002 iirc but The Fabulous One had a major brain fade in one of the mains and Surikarn took it.

However with the much much faster powerplants that we have now it drives a bit less adequate than it did 10yrs ago... the stiff chassis is outdated but the suspension is still the benchmark, up until not too long ago TC3 geometry was still used on a lot of the top-of-the line cars from competitors. Transmission again is a bit too direct for hi-torque BL...

New parts supply is via ebay or NOS only, but there are sooooo many rollers for sale all the time it shouldn't be an issue.

If you run one, make sure you get alloy diff outdrives as the plastic ones make the diff behave funny (heat and dilatation).

That makes sense. I had a hard time with my front diff until a fellow racer gave my an alum front spool. what an upgrade A+

Interesting that the differentials look just like the ones in my RC18, very cool.

I was hoping to get it upgraded to brushless and lipo though, so we'll see how it goes.

that will be bonkers on brushless I had a 4600kv in mine and was WAY too fast for our local track.

Don't care about racing it - it will be driven on my street so I'm going to MAX speed.

4600kv under 7V is about 35krpm, which is what about any "medium hot" brushed mod would give, which means it's a proper racing mill... the fact that it's BL doesn't have to do anything with the car being WAY too fast for your local track. I'm sure you can find a few good racers racing 6.5's and 5.5's at your local track without hitting stuff...

Um... No you wont the class dosent exist being a small outdoor track but thank you for your opinion anyways.

The big boys run 5.5 or 6.5's or so... if your car is WAY too fast with a 4600kv then there is something else. whether these rpm come from a BL or a brushed mill dpesnt make a difference at this stage is the point I was trying to make (maybe clumsily).

The problem with the driveline is a harmonic created at 15, 30 and 45 mph. It requires more power overcome these harmonics. In the past, there was not enough power to overcome the 45mph mark and that is why belts became dominant. (Someone who should know told me this )

At this point, there is wacky power available, so it really shouldn't matter.

Tc3 is great for parking lots or in the street with the sealed diff/transmission housings rocks cant get stuck in the gears or belts and wreck things just be carful with rocks getting in the steering rack
