I'd be lying if I said I wasn't 'into' xmas. Like a child I still like all things xmas and with two sons I plan to make each year better than the last.

I have seen a few xmas train layouts on the net and while mine isn't any where near as awesome as those which I have seen I wanted to build something that would entertain the children and leave them with fun memories of xmas around the tree. The concept was to have a simple layout which my 2.5 year old boy could operate easily enough (and he does) without being too complex or fragile for little hands.

I built this platform 350mm off the ground which allows us to store xmas presents around the base. A xmas themed train station was built with MDF panel to compliment the Polar Express train set.

a couple of years back i wanted to get a train for under the tree. turns out a guy i work with is a lionel collector, he hooked me up with an all metal 6266 from 1951 and a bunch of track and cars. this year i'm not putting it under the tree, my son is 3.5 now and just started "trowing" things. so no train for him this year.

my favorite memories of christmas are of my grandma, the real santa. xmas was her favorite, she really spared nothing in giving the family the best christmas'.

Maybe in years to come I will end up with a similar train and get one with the smoke function too . Once the boys will be old enough to appreciate something I little finer. For now I am ok with them pulling it off the tracks and pushing it across the floor

Very cool! I constantly try to delight my 6 year old daughter in little ways year round. They don't forget things like this and they become great life long memories!(not to get all sentimental or anything )

We have a train, but like with my R/Cs Buster Brown goes ape crap if we try to put it out. He found his present last night while he was snoopin' around...
