Sorry dude I use an appletv. Yup, I drank the kool aid.
I will say, Netflix has been decent for tv and good for movies. Hulu is great for tv. My father has the amazon prime thing but I haven't checked it out yet and I don't know if Roku plays it anyway. I hear great things of the Roku, you should be fine!

We got one for free from Dish when they didn't have AMC. We use it to watch netflix. I guess there are games and other stuff but we've never tried anything else. It's easier to use than our Blu-Ray's netflix app.

I like it. The Roku that is. I only use it for Netflix but there are a few additional apps uploaded to it too. Fair price too.
Just recently also used Apple TV and it seemed almost identical. Maybe apple cloud streaming might be the only major difference.
My $0.02
And one more thing..... I did like the apple remote as small and simple as it was. I could see myself losing that thing within a couple carpet fibers. Roku remote is the perfect size.

My brother just got it and likes it. I have a western digital media player, hooked up to the internet. It's pretty neat to use for playing looney tunes episodes for the kids from youtube, and for using a HDD stored movies. I don't have any other internet accounts(netflix, hulu, etc) to try out the others, but it looks just as capable. Yeah, sorry sorry, not the question you asked, but along the same lines.

we don't have any game systems in the house at all for that option-
We were paying a ton for Dish/Internet (1.5g) and phone, but I bumped the Internet to 12G and dropped everything else.....saves 2/3 of what we were paying and I'm going to attempt all the Roku private channels for everything..

I really hope it works for you. We sent ours back once we learned how limited hulu plus was. Well, not so much limited, but my better half enjoys mostly HGTV and Bravo, and neither were supported at the time. TWC wins again.....at our expense
