Battery trays for NiMH/LiPo

I've got an old Puretech battery strap in my RC10 Graphite, but have run into a snag - newer NiMH and LiPo packs are universally too long to fit behind the nubs on the battery strap brackets. Knowing how rare these things are now, I'd rather not cut it (plus, that would leave longitudinal retention to the servo, which is less than ideal).

The NiMH/LiPo packs I have sit into the bulkhead perfectly, so I'm looking for front retainer options. Are there any other options beyond the factory battery cup? I'm willing to hack new parts to hell and back, but will stop shy of re-drilling the chassis.

Tips welcome. Thanks guys!

pure tech has new straps with a straight bracket, no "L" shape.
you can then mount a lipo and use the servo mount or another peice in front to keep the batt from sliding foward.

I run the PT strap and it works fine even the old L style
Which is what u should run
Keeps the lipo off the servo mounts
I'm texting on a phone so I can't put pics rite now
Look at the pics of my orange racer build I'm running
Them on there

Right on, thanks for the tips guys. Seems like the old ASC6334 battery cups work for a lot of people so I ordered a set, but it looks like I'm gonna do one or more of the following:
  • Get a block of delrin and crudely machine a 2S LiPo holder (for a 45C, 5000mAh model). Really tempted by this option.
  • Also from delrin, machine an alternative rear servo mount to also brace the battery and use one of the PureTech straps for longitudnal mounting of a normal 6-cell style pack.
  • Use some of this scrap aluminum I have to make stand-offs for the existing PureTech strap to move it forward ~1/2".
It'll get sorted out. Thanks guys.
