Going to base this off of what someone would have built in the beginning of the nitro craze before conversion kits were available. Only sacrifice to original parts will be a used chassis. Trying to not modify any other parts that can't be returned to factory later down the road.

So far all I've done is notch the chassis and mirror a bunch of parts. I'll get some thicker scrap alum that will bolt to the left engine mounts and behind the baseplate. Will use a band style brake off of the clutchbell, and a muffler that will exit out the rear through the shock tower.

Here is a few pictures to show where I'm going with this. Still a ways away but you'll get the idea.








Running out of things to do that don't require tons of money or elusive parts that I can't get ahold of so I'm starting a new project I should be able to do with what I already have minus a few home made pieces.

Very cool! I had built a blue eagle into a nitro bitd, used a duratrax clutch setup and some kyosho mounts, had to run an idler cause the lay shaft had to exit the left side of the truck on that diff.

I wonder where all the dudgeon and amain conversions went. I haven't seen one in years!

Found some scrap in a bin. This will be my engine mount. Needs tigged in a couple spots and cleaned up a little but it should be pretty solid mounted to the bottom and side of the chassis.

I'm always on the lookout for these. I know that when one finally shows up it will be way out of my price range. Always someone willing to spend more than me. Unless its poorly listed and I'm the only one who sees it which is rare due to all the other people who are good at finding those too.

We have an over stuffed lot full of it. Almost any size and thickness I could ever need.

One more thing for the day. Had to change my idea of running the exhaust out the back through the shock tower because the muffler would have been higher than the body post. Already going to have to cut shock openings so the body will need some structure to stay sturdy. This way is still clean I think. Arm just touches at full compression and I could turn it more if I really wanted.

Also looking at my engine mount, it will be painted black and will almost blend right in with the chassis side.

If you decide to try a tuned pipe, the header for the kyosho stinger is made for an engine at that angle. That's what I ran bitd.

I haven't really tried to stick a body on there but I'm thinking the engine sits too far to the side to run any pipe off the side without major trimming.

Really cool project.

Progress was cut short due to a broken tap. But still managed to tie in the rear pretty good. Really solid and it still has one more mount by the peice of black delrin that will be tied down to finish it off.

Here's the upper/lower chassis brace with rear mount integrated. Keep in mind ill go back and smooth all these pieces out. They are all just roughed in for now.

Braking and throttle in position, just need some stops and springs.
Threw some wheels on to get an overall picture too
