RC10 Team Car ready for refurb

Team Car arrived today!!! :P

Ripped open the box like a kid on Christmas morning while my wife gave me that look that said a million words. But she's a good sport and knows I'm a kid at heart.

The car appears to have only been run a handful of times. Two of the shocks feel dry, but it's in pretty good shape. The body is unpainted, and the decals are uncut. Everything is there with the exception of the extra springs. The golds are on the car, but the silver and greens are missing.

It'll get a full tear down and refurb after the Triumph is done.

This one is a later 'C' stamp, as the manual is referencing Kinwald's '93-'94 IFMAR championship. I was hoping to find an early 'B' stamp, but I couldn't pass this one up.

Completed the tear down tonight and was happy to discover that the chassis is a 'B' stamp... exactly what I was originally looking for.

It's going to need new hardware and turnbuckles due to some light surface rust, and I'd like a set of silver and green springs (early 'dark' green springs). But, everything else is good and just needs a good cleaning. I think I'll give the nylon parts some UV treatment. But who knows when that'll happen. Sunlight is hard to come by in the Pacific NW in January...

HI!... Buy a UV light. You can get them easily at pet stores. Usually in the section for lizards. Install in desk lamp. Soak parts in H/P and hover light right about the liquid. Lets sit like that for 3-5 days. Parts come out like new.

Nice find, just wondering what nose plate was on there. Standard, or worlds?

Standard trans brace and rear bulkhead, should be square nose. 90%-

I suspect this kit was near the end of the 'B' run, just prior to the 'C' stamp. It has the following:

- B chassis.
- square nose plate.
- bushed slipper (but white spur and early style slipper pad).
- reinforced rear arms.
- later style ball cups.
- later style gear cover.
- box documents reference Kinwald's Worlds victory (but not on the box art).

I thought this was a "C" stamp, that's why I asked about the nose plate. A very intact car!

Yes, I originally thought it was a 'C' based on all the noted features. But, after tearing it down I found that it was actually a 'B'.

The "winter blast", "snowpocalypse 2014" event here in Portland this past weekend gave me some time to rebuild the Team Car. I love snow days! :D

Yep, it's slightly warped so I torqued in on the other way to see if it would reshape.

I think the real problem is the outer clutch disk. It appears to be a little warped, which I'm guessing then warped the spur.

I can see a little wobble in the outer disk and spur, but the top shaft is straight (rolled it on a flat surface before reassembly). I'll revisit down the road. *shrug*

If the slipper/spur screw(s) are too long it will push against the inner hub, and pull the outer hub plate out-
