I think you have a better chance using optima knuckles (used in optima mid and lazer also and available in cast metal and plastic)

It was said once that the rpm carriers would fit both optima and yokomo, the only requirement is that an optima uses an unflanged bearing vs the yok with a flanged. So yes, it stands to reason stock optima knuckles should fit, but you may have to play with bearings and spacing.

Thanks. When you said lazer, were you referring to the old lazer or the newer shaft driven lazer?

Why not the originals?

Because they are brittle and expensive to replace

What did you end up using? I have been wondering what to do next since I am down to my last set.
Looks like the dbo1 tamyia might wwork too, but I am not certain.
Anybody know a good sub for the 870c/early yz10 hubs?
looking for something that works on the rear since that is what I am breaking more of.
I am aware the stock part is the same front and back.
Thanks!

I think you should be able to use some traxxas parts for the rear: like the ones for the bandit or rustler. They all look similar but have different offsets, so best would be to go to a physical shop and look at the spares they have on hand before buying.

OK, got my hands on the TA04 knuckles finally.
TA04 front knuckles are almost 99% directly replacement for YZ834B front knuckles.
TA04 front knuckles are about 23mm tall but 870C is about 19mm, so you have to shave off 2mm from both top and bottom to accomodate them within the 870C C-hubs. it also would make the width wider by about 1mm on one side, which IMHO is negligible.
Hope this info helps

Could you take a few pics comparing the two? Thanks!

I took at look at some of my TA02 spares, and I think tiger1 might be onto something here. I can't speak for the TA04, but for the TA02, the front steering knuckles appear to have the same dimensions as the 870C knuckles. The only issue, as tiger1 mentions, is that the Tamiya knuckles are taller. The simple fix is to combine the TA02 steering knuckles with the TA02 C-hubs (GPM Racing makes aluminum parts for each, so that's easy). The TA02 C-hubs do seem to fit within the YZ10 arms without any significant play or binding. I think this has a good shot at working. My magnesium hubs are not broken (yet), so I might wait before trying this conversion (Also, I already have aluminum front arms, and I don't want metal everything for suspension and hubs), but indeed it does appear this may work with minimal if any shimming required.
