I recently picked up these motors in a deal and was wondering what the history might be behind these models.
If you guys know what 'wind's and turn's' they might be I'd like to hear from you.
Many thanks- Jason

According to my parts catalog the Sonic "J" is a 12x4, Sonic "X" is a 10x4, the "Mr G's" a 11x4

Many thanks.

All 'QUADS'! These might have made a fast 2WD motor

Which one? LOL!

Would these be mid 90's motors? We're they a good motor in their day?

the pink label is early 90's, the sonics are mid 90's.

Thanks Scr8p.
We're the Sonic series a high end mill or were they just an average motor back then?

the sonics were the top end reedy motor. they replaced the pink label ultras.

I'd say a high end mill. The Sonics had a large comm which was good for torque.

Thank you Lil_general. I'll have to give these a clean and set them up on my dyno. At this stage I have no plans for them but would like to learn more about them before I move them along to someone that would appreciate them more than me.

Good motors, I'd clean em up and hang onto them if I were you. The onroad winds are a bit of a bummer, but will work in a 2wd offroad on a fast flowing track.

If you feel the need you can always throw them over one state my way

Good advice Lil_general but these are a little too new a period for my cars. Besides I am on the look out for Kyosho LeMans motors. Sounds silly to be chasing less superior mills but I'm a bit of a 'K' fan myself.

Scr8p it would seem the overall appearance of these Reedy motors changed little from the late 80's through to these models. Sure the decal is different but similar cans and end bells.
Is there a thread here somewhere on the history of Reedy motors?

I really like the earlier models as these were what was around back in my race era. It would be good to have a timeline of some kind or even an evolution of the brand.
