Here she is. My first real RC. Also the only one I bought new at a hobby shop, that also was a tv/vcr repair shop. (since then I got them used from someone somewhere)

My dad and I built it together. Well I did wake up way early and worked on it for like 2 hours before my parents woke up to go to church one Sunday. lol... Dad was (or acted) impressed, Hmmm now I wonder if he was a little bummed. Still great memories...

Now obviously she needs some tlc. I have all the parts for her. except for one rear wheel. (I wish I knew so don't ask).

I will post pics and rebuild story line, ask advise/opinions on direction to go when I hit snags.

Thanks Lars. I knew you'd dig this. I know the shocks have the CRP coil over kit on em. but what else is "HOP UP"?
I suspect the black plastic steering knuckles?

what was a 1 car restore preservation has turned into a 2 car project.

1 stock "preservation" and one Im thinking "hot mod" with the beetle body just for fun! (full bearings/SS screws/ modern universals/ shocks/ maybe modern trans and hot brushless?)

Yes, the nuckles

I wold keep TS orginal sins you got your rear wheels. The older Scorpion I would make to a runner with modern wheels and tires, medern CVD’s, modern shocks. And bruchless 17,5 system.

Nice. The more Scorpions, Sidewinders, Tomahawks and Beetles the better. Looking forward to the end result. Chris.

Do you know of any shocks that would be a direct replacement. I have an assault that I'm slowly rebuilding. The shock collars are brittle and broken, so I ordered some from Team CRP, turns out they are 8mm shock collars and the stock are 10mm . My project is at a halt :?

You're looking for shocks to replace the Assault shocks, then? Were those the same 10mm shocks that were used by the original Optima? If so, I have a bag full of those 10mm red shock parts including some uncracked collars that I can sell you. I'll need to actually count how many collars I have that are uncracked, I've had this bag 'o' reds for years. PM me if you're interested.

I've always liked the look of the Turbo Scorpion but never had the oportunity to own one. Would it be feasible to build one from scratch or better to wait for a complete car to come up for sale? From I've been reading so far they're a bit difficult to find.

There is a guy on ebay who sells 3d printed collars and spring cups. In red even.
