I have been rebuilding RC-10's and RC-10T's for a very long time. In the past, some have had a little mold on them from sitting in a basement, garage, etc. I have always been able to get the mold off with my arsenol of cleaning supplies. I have a very nice set of tires for a rebuild but I can't get the mold off for anything. Does anyone know how to get off stubburn mold?

Degreaser, and or bleach-

Can I use the bleach concentrated or should I dilute it? I mean this stuff is on there. I even tried to use Goof Off with no result and the Goof Off works on just about anything. I even use it to get rust off stock turnbuckles and screws. Just don't use it on plastic.

Simple green works pretty good for cleaning tires and nitro chassis's; just don't let it sit on anodized aluminum though for to long.

I've had really good luck with simple green too. Soak them for a day or so and scrub with a stiff plastic bristle brush.

Super Clean

Dudes, this is some kind of exotic super mold. I have tried all of these things and more. I'm going to let them sit in concentrated bleach till morning and see what happens.

Can the bleach harm the rubber.

Maybe its not mold- maybe its release agent, or something environmental

yeah, if that is the case, you might want to try experimenting with wiping the tire with diferent solvents, such as wd40, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, etc.

Your not talking about that white powdery substance that appears on some tires over time are you? If so....mine came off easily with a heat gun but I have also heard of putting them in the dryer (in a bag)

The front ribs did have the white residue. Thats what the mold was stuck to. Leaving them in concentrated bleach worked for the most part on the pair of front ribs. The rears are from a different truck. Seems like the bleach made the discoloration worse leading me to believe that it is dirt. It doesn't help that they are the wafle style. I have tried bleach, alcohol, WD-40, Goof-Off, soap, etc. The WD-40 only masks the discoloration and makes the tires brown, just like a real car. I only had a little simple green left. I'm going to get some more tomorrow . If that doesn't work I guess they will go on one of the runners that go out the door and it's a shame because they are like new.

Super Clean from walmart and a stiff brush should take it off along with your skin so wear gloves.

try scrubbing with a toothbrush with the wd40 on it. see if it will lift it out.

I had some sucess last night using nail polish remover but not enough to keep going. At the rate it was coming off, it would take at least another 2 hours to clean the pair. after a half hour, I was quite lifted from the fumes. No wonder the ladies like to do their nails so often.
