i have the rear a-arms and carriers in white
and a few nip tranny parts
so hopefully i can salvage her

only thing i dont have that i see im going to need is slipper balls and rings

looks a relic salvaged from titanic.

Looks like salt damage.

yea i cant wait to see whats under the black tape the seller stuck over the top shaft bearing
its plain to see that its newer and less dirty than any other part on the car
wonder what he is trying to hide

for what i paid im not to bad off
most of the white parts should clean up well and the plastics dont look to be to damaged


i dont think i have ever seen a shock that had corision like that on it

and man that front axle(gues i should say that mas of rust where the front axle used to be )
hopefully i can get it out to replace it

I think you can use calcium/lime/rust remover to get the rust stains off the nylon, but not sure.

otherwise, you can salvage some, but there are other parts that are toast for sure.

this is no joke, but throw the really rusty parts in some coca-cola for a few days, maybe longer, and it really should make the rust easy to remove. the phosphoric acid in the cola kinda makes the rust break away from the steel. I've done it with some nasty turnbuckles. granted, the metal parts look beyond gone, but it might help get the axles out of the carriers.

Bar Keepers Friend (product) and a toothbrush to get the rust stains off.

You can buy it at your Grocery Store. Cardboard gold can like Comet comes in.

I have used it on wheels where the Cap screws had rusted and it cleaned up the nylon.

man.....and i thought my grandpas old car that was sitting out in a shed for 15 years straight was bad.

Meh... A trip to the parts box and a peroxide bath and that thing will be running in no time

I think the low point is the pube hanging off of the rear body post...

i was trying to keep the thought in my head that it was fisihing line or somthing less gross

hopefully the white fuzzy stuff is corrosion and not somthing els

Fairfield, Ohio i dont see where it would get to much salt water contact so kinda rules out corrosion from salt water

Maybe it was ran in the winter, when the road was salted, and could not rinse the car off, because the water was shut off, so the lines would not freeze, something similar happened to me, but not to that extent.

How does the bottom of the pan look? At least it doesn't have a servo adjustment hole drilled into the side of it!

If the steel is heavily rusted soak it in oxalic acid till the rust is gone, then soak in mineral oil.

Luckily the diff rings and balls are probably the easiest parts to get.
