Bent RC10GT CHASSIS

I have a RC10GT and the chassis is bent on it just in front of the motor mount. This is the black tub chassis. With the exception of it being bent the chassis is in realy nice shape. What would be the best way to bend it back without doing further damage? I have a few ideas but I wanted to know what everyone else has done in the past.
Thanks, Neil

welcome to the site, great first post question. There are many answers in the forums with a little searching.
long story short, elbow grease, and a lot of tugging, pulling and bending. I use wood blocks, a vise, and apply pressure in the reverse way the chassis bent in the first place where possible. Sometimes a good 200lb weighted shoe in the right place will bend it back too. just remember the chassis is tempered, so you may need bend past where you want so when it springs back it's flat.

while I havent tried it yet on an rc car. Ive always been a fan of a rubber hammer and a piece of wood. like get a piece with a good flat end and use it and another flat surface to flatten the car back out while banging with the hammer on the opposite side of the wood.
I've only done this on real cars vs rc cars so i dont know how well it will scale down.

Hi just my 2cents i agree you will most likly need to over bend it to get it back where it needs to be.make sure you use a straight edge to check your flatness and using your eye.depending on how bad it it you should be able to make it flat again.i would try using hand force rather than a rubber hammer unless you need to.if you have access to a press that helps because you can block it and using the press push down on the bent or creased area.but be careful not to cause more dameage.i have used a press with a dail indicator on more than one job where i needed to know the spring.that how far you push to how flat you make it.you could appy. 025 of downward pressure but only make it .005 flatter.and i have also found that in another crash it could bend at the same spot.just do your best use a straight edge take your time oh and most of all remember its a rc car it will happen again.

I have thought about making a wood jig. I figured I would have to make it have a slight over bend and clamp the jig together. Someone had suggested heating it up before bending but I would figure it would soften the metal and may ruin the finish. Thanks for the input guys. This is kind of a project I'm putting together. If anyone has a pick of a 2nd gen RC10GT in its all original state this would be helpfull so I know what I need to get for my project.
Thanks, Neil

Do not heat it you will ruin it.heating it will lose its temper and cause it to bend even easier.heat bad! But thats just me.if its bent that bad do your self a favor and buy another.sometime its just not worth the time or trouble.i really dont think making a jig will help.but their again i could be wrong.i grew up in a welding fab and machine shop.so its just my take.i hope it works out for ya.can you post a pic?

I consider the first release of the blue flat style chassis as the second gen GT. but here is a couple pics of an all black GT if that's what you were referring to?
