I just got a sp1 and it's the first time seeing one and I think I might be missing something. Should there be that much of a gap in the main gear and out drive.
Thanks

something is wrong there for sure. I'm pretty sure the gear should sit on a shoulder, so it looks like the gear is too large in ID

I looked at the manual again and it has a bearing kit with 6 bearings. I also looked at pics on ebay with the Sam transmissions and the gear looks the same.

I wonder if they ever had a "pro diff" version, I don't see why you couldn't fit a bearing in there if you get the measurements right. It's gonna be thin.
It will sound silly but I have used play dough for things like this, pack it in there, assemble, and remove carefully. That will give you the bearing width max. Don't use it for diameters, it won't be centered.

Could it be a diff gear from one of the ball diffs made for the Tamiya SRB cars?

Does the diff gear mesh properly with the idler? It shouldn't be impossible to find a bearing or brass bushing to make up the extra space.

They did offer the pro ball raced differential kit that also fit into the same gear box. He has the wrong diff. gear for sure.................needs B-3. Show some more pic's of the other parts. Does not look right!

call me jealous for those metal diff gears.
just my thought on the matter but putting a 2nd bearing in to close the gap sounds like something id do.

i doubt you could get a bearing thin enough to actually make that work.
