Anatomy of a Mugen Bulldog airshock.

This was one of the reasons why I bought the Bulldog in 1985, never has an oil leak!!

Sadly, it does not really work too well except on road, bashing.....

Very interesting. I've always wondered what was in there. Back in 85, the bulldog was the car that i wish I could get.

awesome, thanks for sharing - was also wondering Pretty basic in the end... I wonder how much of it is air dampening vs. basic friction... maybe lubing the o-ring would help?

It's pretty rudimentary inside, but I can see how it kinda works...the variable-rate springs would help it to absorb shocks without being too bouncy. I still don't like the idea that you aren't able to adjust anything inside like shock oil weight or piston hole sizes. That's probably why air-damped shocks never appeared on any competitive car.

I'm still trying to figure out why we never have seen rotary shocks. In our game, it would be a way to keep the weight low in the chassis and could be very tiny with no oil volume vs shaft volume issues.

I have a bulldog air shock in my bin of parts. Just waiting for the rest of the car lol.
