Im going to be ordering a full hardware set for the rc10. My biggest question is it worth upgrading parts to this material? Is there any advantage over stainless steel with a good finish? I'll have to determine what all screws I actually need but is it worth the money?

I'll be interested to hear what you thinik of these. I have a set of the titanium screws for my Tamiya Avante build (tamiya part #) but have never tried them on anything else.

My XXXT Matt Francis has a complete set of Lunsford Ti. I shed some weight for sure.......................not sure you need to lose any weight. Excellent Bling factor though!!

Ti is mostly to save weight. Plus it wont corrode.

why not use aluminum. lighter and cheaper.

Alloy will not be as strong as Ti and alloy will corrode in a very subtle way if the anodising gets scratched off. Probably not an issue but worth bearing in mind.

it's really your call. It's more expensive and doesn't corrode, and it's lighter. if you need those characteristics and don't mind paying the price, they are a good buy.

I am fortunate enough that I have a bunch of stainless hardware that I've collected over the years, so I use them almost exclusively(I use #2, #4, and 3mm) but anything larger like the 8-32's, I use the aluminum ones from associated. Mcmaster-carr sells hardware very cheaply in volume, so when I need something new, I get 18-8 stainless which is more than strong enough for these cars, plus no corrosion.

the other set was stainless steel so corrosion is sorta meh between the two.

as to not using aluminum, I've had too many screws tear up. Id just prefer a stronger metal and the look im going for can be accomplished by titanium or stainless so thats where im at.

i need to call the people with that other shop and ask about the screws though to make sure they have a polished finish.

now that ive finally got a chance. it looks like most of the screws that go in the car.

well the issue im coming up with is there is a complete screw set listed in the parts list and its only 49 screws. But looking at all the other screws listed for the car, it totals a lot more than 49 at 110. when i look at the exploded view, im getting right around 49 minus the transmission screws. So the question is what should I go with? If im buying titanium, the price can jump up a whole lot more than needed.

on a side note, since most screws are 4-40 or 8-32, I havent studied up on screw sizes but the 4 and 8 are diameter in mm and the 32 and 40 are threads per inch?

#4 and #8 screws are a nominal gauge size, but not metric. Yes the 40 and 32 are threads per inch.

Keep in mind some screws should not be aluminum, stainless, or titanium. With steel you have a little give, with titanium and stainless you tend to break them more than bend them. I don't like to use anything but steel for shock bolts, front tower bolts, and nose plate/braces. Just my preference, I am not Cliff Lett!

Gah, after looking at all the screws. The prices at lunsford is just insane. most screws needed for the rc10 are needed in increments of 6 while lunford only sells in sets of 4. gonna end up costing $10 for each type of screw minimum.

I get the bit with steel but this is to be a shelf queen so im not too worried about running it often and needing to hold a lot of strength.

Nice find. That price ain't bad at all.

If the picture is any bit accurate, It should be much better than what I received from rc screws. Clearly your getting a much wider variety of screws that should better fit the car.

For the price, your probably getting your money's worth if the material is of good quality. about $0.30 per screw. lot less than lunsford $1.22 per.

I'm almost tempted to return my rc screws set but I can always stand to have extra hardware.
