"Lady Bug" a Blitzer Beetle for the missis

At the Vonats last fall, my wife got her first taste of driving an r/c car around a track. She got a big kick out of it. I asked if she'd be interested in racing next year and she gave me an enthusiastic "yes!" So, I bought her a Blitzer Beetle thinking it would be about the perfect vehicle to get her started. Sort of a stadium truck, definitely cute and hopefully pretty durable and reliable. She started building it but then she got frustrated so I finished it up for her. it's basically stock, with full bearings, a Futaba MC330CR ESC, and Imex tires mounted to HPI wheels. We came up the lady bug paint scheme, figuring it would be great for a female racer. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out and I'm impressed with how well it performs.

Unfortunately we won't be able to race it at the Vonats this year, having just recently moved to Iowa. But hopefully it's going to see lots of back yard action and then a few trips to the local track for some hot laps.

Crikey, that's some big wheels and tyres! Looks almost like it could still drive upside down!!!!

That looks really nice and I love the paint scheme on the body. 8) Hopefully you can get her out to the local track for some laps.

Looks great to me.

Very different. The Blitzer Beetle are great performers. The shell can't handle too many hard knocks though.

If you can get the missis to get the r/c bug it makes life so much easier I found out.

Looks good, I like this type of theme that plays on the type of vehicle used. This paint scheme could have been used by Tamiya in their RC guide books as an alternative. Who remembers the Tamiya Frog painted like a frog?

Looks awesome! I see you're using the Lexan body too, don't want to trash the plastic one :)
