The connector on the left is my new NiMh battery for my nitro rc10gt. The connector on the right is goes to the switch for the cars electronics. So its the normal place where the batt plugs in, just connector issues, because nimh batt.

These need to connect, but how?

Interestingly, the 3rd connector is female and when I plug the batt into it, everything works, but only when the switch is in the off position.

you can buy a male to male adapter to connect these two connectors. you may have to trim the small keying feature on the connector on the right.

Cut the tabb off the Futaba plug on the right to plug into any other modern system! For the switch, unscrew your switch plate, rotate plate 180, place screws and tighten!

I'm not sure we're reading each other right.

The new switch I got today has 3 connections. The one shown on the right in the pic, a female connector (I assume for charging), and one that looks like the left that's plugged into the receiver. Then there's the batt, as shown on the left.

Tried searching for that adapter, no luck. Will continue looking.

I don't understand the description of your problem, but no matter what, screw adapters, they add unreliability... pull out the soldering iron and do your own connections. It's not like we're talking multiphased systems here, it's just a + and a -...

But then my battery won't be removable!

what I meant is install your own connectors. One male, one female.

Ok...the switch you have should have one female and two male (shown above).

One male plugs into the receiver. Sometimes it is red in color
The lone female accepts the battery pack
The final male is for charging.

If there is a tab in the way of plugging the connector in, carefully trim it off and align the colors

Just get rid of the switch and make a simple connector. Plug it in to turn it on and unplug it to turn it off. Switches are unreliable, especially on a nitro car, and a bad switch on a nitro car can really ruin your day.
