Team Car revival - here we go!

First a very happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there!

I posted a while back regarding my old RC10 Team Car which I'd like to get running again (or shelf potentially...see below). Thanks Reggie and everyone for all the feedback on my questions. I finally FINALLY got my brother to take some pictures! Sorry for the long delay!

Some background on the car.
I got this car brand new in box from National Hobby Co in Fridley, MN (now closed) when I was 10 years old or so, which would be 1993-1995ish. I probably only ran it a dozen times total, mostly just around the neighborhood, before I got a B2. It's in pretty good shape, I just gave it a little toothbrush and sink treatment the last time I was back home (and yes, I did do some sharpie treatment on some light chassis scratching...forgive me!!!)

In terms of parts, I added way back when I was little:
RPM ball bearing bellcranks
Carbon fiber transmission brace
Lunsford titanium rods and RPM ballcups

More recently on my last trip home a few months ago I added:
Carbon fiber towers (front and rear) from RC Carbon Works
Carbon fiber battery strap
A few blue screws from a local hobby shop to replace the stripped front A-arm suspension mount screws - will be replacing these for sure, I don't like blue
Replaced the right steering arm which was missing for some reason
A ghetto-rigged B4 gear cover
Fresh black suspension springs

I still have the original white shock towers and the front body mount. Also have the original box and manual and the Viper body which I did a home paint job on.

The mystery of the black plastic parts
All other parts are original, out of the box - meaning this Team Car came with black plastic parts (bulkhead, arms, arm mounts etc). I wouldn't jerk you guys around on this and I can promise you I don't have enough time or inclination to dye parts, I like them original :) We talked about this a little on the other thread and I am wondering if any other Team Car original purchasers also had black parts on their cars. I remember when I was putting it together I thought that the white arms in the manual were just so the pictures would be clearer, I did not even think twice about it.

The Build
So what should I build this into? I'll be back home in August for a week (and I just landed a job after almost a year of looking, so I will have some cash finally!!!) and I'm ordering some parts so I can do a build when I get back. Trying to decide on a theme for the build.

I am thinking of getting it up to a nice runner with some Bart's aluminum arms, I have already ordered some Bart's aluminum arms (wide track) for front and rear, might do a "black and metal" theme, with black JConcept 5 spokes.

On the other hand, I could probably get this back to near original without too much effort, which might be nice for history's sake if the "Black Arm Team Car" is something we should have around for the books.

! Beyond that I would need a gear box cover, original tierods/cups, a bellcrank set, a black tranny brace, a set of screws, and I am sure a few other things that you guys will fill me in on :)

Any and all ideas welcome! Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I don't know what stamp is on it - I will see if I can ping my brother to check.

I'm sure it should be a "C"

I'm watching this thread with interest - i won my first vintage RC10 last night on ePay, a Team Car i believe. Thought I'd better see what all the fuss is about before my RC10 classics ship

Hey Marlo - was reading your Team Car thread, very nice build

In the case I go with a full restore

Doe anyone remember if the steering kit also eventually came in black? I just can't remember...

Went ahead and snatched this off the Bay for $50 shipped

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Associated-RC10-project-car-for-parts-or-resto-RC-/130926536319?ViewItem=&item=130926536319&nma=true&si=dLcpYltBtDKbFgzjeSoZb5uwEFc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I'm leaning toward keeping my current Team Car pristine and maybe someday doing a proper resto, but for now I really want to build a track runner/basher so this will be the starting point.

Just the gear cover is from a B4 - the spur and slipper are the original - I only say it's ghetto rigged up because the screws for the B4 cover aren't really in the same place, only one is. Would need to drill a hole for the other screw.

Is the B4 slipper a lot better than the old one? If so I might try and pop that in the runner.
