I picked up this car from a fellow member earlier this year. The car's made up of different parts (cat XLS, pro cat, boss cat) which made it difficult to identify the base model. After looking thorough the Schumacher section, I was able to determine that this started out as a Pro Cat.

Overall, the car is in really good condition with no wear on the suspension components. There were no broken parts and it also came with a bag of spares (mostly transmission and universals). At a glance, I can see that it has a Litesink motor plate and a slipper. It has Bosscat front arms and rear shock towers and the bumper is from the XLS.

I've rebuilt a top cat and cougar, so I'm really excited to see how the 4wd cars are put together. Here are some pics:

Looks like a good project Roger. I have one in pieces that I'd like to rebuild someday if I can ever find the time for RC again!

Hi Roger. Yeah this one started out as a Procat (maybe even an SE). Obviously has a CAT bumper from the XL or XLS, Bosscat front upper and lower arms, WORKS rear arms and hubs, 2.2" aerodisc rims which did come on the Procat SE. Bosscat rear upper link and shock tower plus those silver Pro style shocks also came on the Procat SE.
Do you intend to run it or are you wanting to restore this one for the shelf? I didn't quite see the slipper. It could be the Bosscat slipper.
This would make a very strong car for the race track.

It's rough finding the time for the hobby...and then going through the various projects just to see what should be built next. I may have some misc parts left over after the build, so shoot me a PM when you begin working on yours.

There is good chance that this may have been an SE. I took the car apart and the rear diff was a single pulley/diff gear instead of the 3 individual pulleys. Not sure if that was on the SE. The slipper looks like the ones found on the Cougar team versions.

Hi Roger. The rear diff sounds like a Bosscat 23mm diff. There is a version which uses plastic 'tri lobe' diff out drives and washes then there's the up speck alloy carriers.

Roger one thing's for sure, this car has seen a lot of work (bench work) at a time in its life. The Procat SE was quite rare. Basically released only a very short while before the Bosscat.

Thank you Roger, I will do that. I agree about sorting through the projects. I seem to have some kind of attention deficit disorder with rc. Like everything else in my life.

Same here. Each night, I look at the different projects to figure out what to work on first. By the time I review each one, it's time to go to bed. Or, I need that one part (that I know I have somewhere) and project winds up sitting.

This is what I'm going through with the Pro Cat. I recently bought a new set of arms but I cant find them. I want to build it the right way the first time, so this project has been sitting for a few days.

Thanks for the feedback regarding the model. I wasn't too familiar with the SE and though that this was just an "owner upgraded" car. After looking at more pictures I think this may indeed be an SE...I'm happy and sad to hear this.

Happy because I now know exactly what this is and it gives me some direction on how to build it. Sad because I thought I knew how to finish this car off...and now I have to change my plans

I think the final product will be a period-correct slightly modified version of the SE. I know I can't make this totally stock because of the Litesink and other bits. I think the only part I need would be the correct front bumper.

As for what I'll be doing with the car, at the end of the build, this will be good for the track or the shelf. I don't think I'll ever run it because I don't have the spares to keep it going.

Here's some pictures.

The rear diff was rebuilt but it was like new to begin with. I believe this is the pro diff...similar to the ones used on the Boss Cat.
This is how the car currently stands. I removed the anodizing from the Litesink motor plate and polished it to match the other side. I kept the actual heat sink black because it blends in with the original colors of the car. I made some fiberglass shock towers because I just like look of the XLS. The holes are pretty much a copy of the Boss Cat towers but I modified the shape just a little bit. Here's the slipper that's on the car. It looks similar to the slippers found on the later Cougars. The car is coming together nicely with only a handful of items that are needed. I'll need a Pro Cat bumper, front arm mounts (the 4 pieces that give it a wider stand) and probably some tires. Wow Roger what a great start to this build! Kudos for making your own fibreglass towers. This thing looks ace mate.
Definitely has the Bosscat slipper assembly which is the same as those on the Cougar2 cars.

I think Luke (Kaszal) is selling a Procat bumper.

I know this is an old post but I'm after some help with a Procat slipper I have managed to get hold of some parts and it looks like I have some slipper plates the same as the ones on yours. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
