I am still in the process of throwing together a runner. I have been machining up a few items for there and there. I am getting ready to mill the motor plate and was wondering if anyone had any pics of how they have done it. I am referring to two areas. First would be how they cut the area that attaches to the main chassis. I have seen angle and radiused in the past. The other area I am interested in would be the flat surfaces. I have seen different milled lines and im curious as to what others have done.

Thanks,
BJ

Here is what I did. I have seen this done on a few other rigs. but I did some thing to one part I have not seen yet. I cut it out using a jewelers saw. I laid out the curves using flexible ships curves. I dykem blued the piece and scribed my lines in. and sawed to that. I kept the saw Blade perpendicular to any surface resulting in a rolling bevel on the edge. The width at the bottom near the mounting threads, I got from the width that I modified on the back of the chassis. Once it was cut out I filled smooth then sanded from 320 to 1500 grit then polished.

It was already trimmed when I got it but here's another example. A little thin for my tastes but it will work

Both examples are very nice! I have never seen a chassis narrowed quite like that in the rear. I really dig it. I just don't know if I have the heart to cut the pink chassis I have. I don't have the motor plate in pink so im all about cutting the one I have. Does anyone have examples of how they have ballmilled theres on the back side?
