My old Truck and I need some help

Hello there,

New to this site and obviously out of date with RC.

I recently decided to pull out my old 1993 RC10T "Team Kit" (after letting it sit for the past 8 years) for fun and see how the old thing ran.

Needless to say, after owning since I was 10 years old and only upgrading it once around age 15. And by upgrade I mean, from Manual speed control to ESC. Plus a 16turn motor instead of the stock... 27? (I don't remember) and that was all. It definitely needed some work.

Well after seeing how it ran (poorly would be putting nicely), I decided to do a complete overhaul and Brushless upgrade.
Yet keep it and particular parts, "obviously a RC10T"... for nostalgia.

So far... its turned out well. I've replaced/refurbished/upgraded more parts than my wallet would like to know about. Now its a combo of RC10T's. Including a T2 body (which fit perfect and is still on RC10.com) and a complete electronics swap with a T4.1

Anyways, the real reason I'm here has to do with the Transmission.
As of now, it still runs great. I've replaced all the gears and upgraded the Spur and Pinion. Just hit 32.4mph the other day.

However, after doing plenty of research, I discovered the RPM 2.65 Stealth Conversion... I also discovered it discontinued and nearly impossible to find. Unless i want to buy another RC10T with the conversion and rip it out of that... I really rather not.

So I sent an e-mail to RPM asking if they had any plans to re-release the 2.65 Stealth Conversion. To which they replied...

"if we see a strong enough demand, there's a possibility that we may start supplying those older RC10 parts again but as of right now, the sales are so low on currently available RC10 parts, they're highly in danger of being discontinued."

The complete reply was very nice respectful but, I just found the idea that these parts aren't still sought after... just odd.
I alone, have dropped a couple hundred dollars on parts recently. Plus the more I look for parts, the more I find websites like this, filled with people working on/building/upgrading these awesome old tubs. No Demand??? Really???

So I ask, if you get a chance, shoot RPM an e-mail. Let them know there is still a demand for these parts.
And who knows... Maybe we could convince "other companies" to bring back the original clear body.
Just a thought.

Thanks for letting me share and let the world know of your demand for these parts.

Am I wrong in thinking there is Demand for these parts?

Do you guys want RPM to re-release the 2.65 Conversion???

there have been many examples of people here on the forum lamenting the lack of products from RPM, and RPM almost always cites lack of sales as the primary reason to not make new/remanufactured parts, and of course also claiming that molds were destroyed or worn out. They would rather make 'dirty danglers' that apparently generate much more profit.

rpm re-released front arms for the rc10, and has been making the rears for quite some time. only recently have they discontinued the 2.65 trans and many other parts.

maybe with the re-release of the rc10 classic, they might consider spinning up some new parts, but who knows.

in short, this is not the first attempt to talk to RPM about these things.

Well that's lame.

I didn't know they always make that same excuse.
I just figured if enough people sent them e-mails asking for these parts, they might actually make'em again.

I did inform them of the RC10 re-release.

Maybe if we get a list of people on here that want them. Then send that to RPM.... Maybe.

To me, it's just dumb for them to not make these parts.

Well I guess if letting RPM know about the demand isn't going to happen...

Does anyone here know where to find the 2.65 Conversion???

Is there not a T2, or T3 that used a 2:65 top shaft that would fit the original stealth, not sure ,out of my era of builds, just putting it out there. I'm running an RPM tranny in my RC10T myself.

I have no idea if a T2 or T3 top shaft will fit.

Is the top shaft the only difference???

If so, why the different gear box???

If a T2 or T3 does fit, anyone know where I could get one of those???

new rpm 2.65 kits are impossible to find now and expensive when you do. just watch ebay, there's usually decent used ones for sale.

the t2 and t3 use the same topshaft as any other associated car up until the b4. associated changes their ratios with the diff gear, not the topshaft.

So... I'm guessing my best option is try to "Frankenstein" a 2.65 out several different parts.

It just seems silly that RPM stopped making the Conversion.

It's silly RPM doesn't think there's demand.

And silly that people "Frankenstein" parts, rather than e-mail RPM to prove there is a demand.

Ohh well. Thanks for the advice, but I think I'm just going to stick with what I got.
This whole "Frankenstein" idea just seems like too much effort.

if the demand was there that you think there is, they would still make it. that goes for a lot of their products. but that 2.65 conversion was readily available for purchase from more than a few hobby shops and online sources....... for the last 20 years...... up until maybe 2 months ago. so don't blame rpm, you had plenty of time to get one.

Wow... Kinda Harsh.

The first 2 sentences was all you had to say.

I'm sorry I wasn't more involved with RC when I was younger.
Having a social life tends to get in the way of hobbies.
I also didn't spend much time on the internet when I was younger.
Again, due to having a social life.

Now that I'm almost 30yrs old, I have less of a social life and more time for hobbies.
Hence (like I said in my initial post) I recently pulled it out after it sat untouched for the past 8 years.
"Recently" meaning, since last month.

If there really is no demand, then I'm sorry. My mistake.
Yet you say there's no demand, then brag about scouring the internet to buy as many of the last remaining you can find???
Funny.

Anyways, I was never mad or upset with RPM. I still plan to buy/use many of the parts they still do have.
I thought there was a demand, so I thought it was "silly" to stop making the parts. That's all.
You say there's no demand, then my mistake.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Please try to consider the way to talk to people next time you want to correct them.

Thank you.

that was nowhere near harsh for a post from me. if that's how you want to take it though, i apologize.

as for me "scouring the internet" looking for them, I was searching for someone else. I found a place that had 4 left. He bought the 2 he needed and i figured screw it.... i'll buy what's left.
