Just bought a "swiss" worlds car for cheap

I travel a lot of work and I have this habit of looking at CL for RC's, Trans Am parts, and slot car stuff. This always gets me on my wife's poop list, she likes when I actually sell some of this stuff though.
Anyhow, I spotted a "make an offer" ad on an rc10 so I checked it out. I had a feeling that it was a worlds car and took a chance by texting a $50 offer to the number. It was accepted and we set up to meet the next day
So I call him on my way out and he says his friend had it and cut up the battery tray a bit. I'm thinking, optimistically as I usually do and say to myself, I can replace the battery tray, no problem! I get there and the chassis has a 2" by 5" section cut out of the middle of it. I used that to bargain him down to $29!!! I felt bad for the poor car, I'll hook it up somehow...

So now I have myself a "swiss" edition worlds car:

Can anybody ID that rear shock tower for me? Thanks

I might make it a runner and bomb it around or I just may flip it for whatever it's worth towards my Composite craft car..

Clean up the cut-out and add some kind of quick change battery holder. Then run it in Enduro races ;)

Thanks for the info Charlie.

If I cannot find another chassis, I may use some thin Kydex and shoe goo to cover the canyon.

you could do a battery cup upside down, put baatery in from underneath it.Rig up a spring slider door to hold into battery cup.do
ps:probably used the cut section for a battery heatsink lol

I just completed this build. A search on ebay found me a decent chassis with the correct battery strap for a reasonable price. I picked up some parts from RC carbon works and set about finishing this car off. It's great to see the before and after of this build, I forgot just how rough it looked when I bought it:

Before:

I'm using this ^^^^ body on my RPM worlds car for the time being, gives it a nice retro look :)

After:

It's found itself a new home and I hope the new owner enjoys having it as much as I did!

I saw the listing last night didn't last long! I wanted to buy it, but Christmas being right around the corner keeps the funds tight. Congrats on the sale

Great save! Most would have just tore it apart.

I so love the RC10 Worlds cars! 8)

It looks like you did a great job putting this one back together (even if it isn't a correct restoration) instead of selling the parts on eBay. Good for you! If you're willing to tell us, what did the $29 car ultimately cost you after buying a "C" stamp chassis, the RC Carbon Works parts, a body, and whatever else you used for the build?

LOL I don't want to talk about it, I managed to squeak out a small profit but not enough to make it worth while if i was doing this as a business. I absolutely hate scrapping/parting out cars. If there's at least 50% of a car there, I'll probably build it.
