King pin question

I needed a set 0f #6223 king pins for my team car, but came up short, but while digging in one of my parts bins, I found a set of #3213 stub axles for a 12E. The axles are the same length as the one's I need, was just wondering why the two different part numbers, or if in fact the wrong axles were put in the 12E pack.

they were slightly different, if you really looked at them. maybe not so much now but they used to be.
i think with the kingpin deal it's simply a matter of keeping numbers together. even in the new rc10 kit, they changed the part number of the shorter 7209 inner rear hinge pin to the original 6380 number of the long pin.
