I know the Rustler and Srt share a lot of the same parts, so I'm sondering what the differences are?

Here's what I know are different
chassis, shock towers, gearbox case, shocks, and the body.

the rustler is a piece of trash compared to the the SRT.

Haha. I wouldn't go that far.

I want an art but finding one is near impossible so I was thinking about buying the fiberlyte srt chassis kit and building an srt with whatever rustler parts are shared and then sourcing the remaining srt parts from wherever I can find them.

I just sold a bandit which is built the same way as the rustler. The quality of that RC is miles below the SRT and TCP.

I know they are sweet. That's why I'm trying to figure out what exactly the differences are so I can build an SRT from scratch since you can't find them anymore.

there are parts out there to almost build an SRT and trx3...just gotta find them...and be willing to pay :|

Hopefully harry697 shows up and throws his 2 pennys in...he'll have the answers you seek. There are guys who call me traxxastodd on this board but he is Mr.Traxxas when it comes to the SRT 8)

I've seen a lot of the parts on ebay, but I want to race it as well so I'm looking to find out what parts fit so I can have spares available.

It's gonna be difficult to live up to this quote. Just got back to the forums after not having a computer for an extended period and life in general getting hectic. I've got quite a bit of catching up and explaining to do as to why I went silent for so long with deals pending and everything else. But anyway...............

As far as parts that are the same, all I can think of would be the front bulkhead and bumper and rear axles. I don't think any other parts are shared. Many are interchangeable with the latest Rustler models though. Things like shocks, trans gears, slipper, bearings and other odds and ends are interchangeable with the SRT. I prefer the stock SRT trans with aluminum idler gear and VXL slipper for racing (what the SRT is best suited for) but using the Rustler steel trans set is a popular choice for those who are bashing or putting high-powered motors to the SRT.

If you need any particular SRT parts, send me a PM here and we'll see what we can make happen. I don't have any plans of disappearing again in the near future, so I should be able to get right back to you.

Now I have to go and contact a few people that I was working out deals with over a month ago.

Thanks for the info Harry.

I just bought a rad2 that I'm going to build up like crazy after Christmas. Then I want to build an srt for racing in stock class.
