Hi, I am planning on getting back into electric cars after investing too much of my time in nitro lately, A friend of a friend is selling a street weapon and I would like to be a bit more clued up as to it's value, The car is up and running with a Novak Rooster ESC with reverse, Purple tiger 12 turn motor, Futaba AM receiver and servo, Sanyo saddle pack, Loads of graphite upgrades, spare parts and manual (no shell or transmitter included), Any ideas on what I should pay for it would be nice?

Start with half of what he is asking. Meet him halfway, both of you will feel like you got a deal

Learned that on Pawn Stars

We don't do value here. The value to me, the next guy, and eBay are all vastly different

Is it really worth buying or should I just look for something more current

I'm no losi guy but I personally think its worth buying. Anything vintage on this board is worth buying  but I have friends that swore by the street weapon...

I sent him an email offering him £50 but the guy replied saying I was way off and is now thinking about listing it on ebay

Belts are the biggest problem. The side belt is easy to find but the front is more scarce.

Then there is the rear. It is a Street and Rally weapon part, it is shorter than the XX4 belt which are still easy to get. The Weapon belt on the other hand is a bit scarce.

Every one I have ever bought needed new belts, they just rot easily. Even the NIB Rally Weapon I just built had no usable belts. They were just crumbly messes in their sealed bag.

It's a good car and it's a Losi, but as a daily racer you'll have issues with parts.

What you offered is reasonable. Motor is a throwaway, Rooster isn't needed if you go brushless, which you should.

Receiver is a throwaway also, I have a drawer full of them.

You'll have to do a little work to make LiPOs fit, you can run saddle or a single 2S long or shorty.

To be honest that sounds like a fair offer... as previously stated the electrics are pretty much worthless & I recently watched a full graphite Street Weapon loaded with nice Trinity parts go for a paultry £31 (+P&P) & it wasn't like it didn't have much interest judging by the number of bids!

If I was you I would be asking why you want the Street Weapon in the first place... if you want something to get back into touring car racing then the Street Weapon is not ideal, as previously stated, the belts were a weak point - the original ones prone to snapping & the 'upgraded' blue ones seem to turn to 'mush' with age  with all spares being difficult/awkward to find if you break anything... as a TC chassis it certainly wasn't the best car even when it was new, being adapted from the brilliant XX4 buggy, it was somewhat compromised (although Dave Spashett sure got it going well!)

For me the only reason for going for the Street Weapon is if you have some attachment to the particular chassis (like you had one before) or if you really fancy a challenge!
